3/4/2024 8:25:00 PM

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Fort Lewis College men's golf team is back in action for its spring season opener at the Las Vegas Desert Classic at Boulder Creek Golf Club. After grueling high winds delayed the tournament's first day, the men tackled 36 holes on Monday to start their championship season.

Hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis, the tournament featured 20 of the top programs from around the South-Central and West regions.

The Skyhawks struggled to find their groove in the first two rounds of play, resulting in 18th place (605, +29) as a unit heading into tomorrow, six strokes behind Arkansas Tech (599, +23). Lincoln Memorial University tops the leaderboard at 11 under par, 565. Meanwhile, Colorado Christian's Adam Duncan and CSU Pueblo's Jamie Roberts lead the individual leaderboard with an 8-under-par 136.

FLC's Ronald Kildall III fired off impressive 1-over-par (73) finishes for both rounds to lead the Skyhawks and tie for 33rd. Jake Chesler followed close behind, scoring even-par (72) in his first round and 3-over-par (75) to end the day, locking in a tie for 40th place. Jordan Jennings was the third-best scorer, shooting a set of 5-over (76) and 6-over (77) par finishes. Carson Kerr was the last of the men to contribute to the team score shooting 79 (+7), and 81 (+9).
