Skyhawks debut at No. 21 on United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll

DURANGO, Colo. – Following a return to the top last fall after capturing the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season title and tripling its win total from the season prior, the Fort Lewis College men's soccer program is poised for success once more as they clock in at No. 21 on the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.

Fort Lewis closed out last year with a 12-5-4 overall record and a 6-1-3 mark in conference play. In addition to capturing the regular-season championship, the Skyhawks earned the rights to host the 2023 RMAC Men's Soccer Tournament resulting in a 4-0 win over the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (10-6-5, 5-2-3 RMAC) in the semifinals.

Despite falling 2-0 to No. 16-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (18-5-3, 6-3-1 RMAC), the two-time national runners-up since 2022, in the tournament championship, Fort Lewis still secured its bid to the 2023 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament marking the program's first trip back to the national tournament since 2011 when the Skyhawks won the national championship.

While FLC said farewell to five seniors at the end of last November, head coach David Oberholtzer and assistant coach Dillon Nino were hard at work securing six veteran transfers from across the NCAA Division II and National Junior College Athletic Association ranks in addition to nine high-caliber freshmen.

Fort Lewis will host a trio of exhibitions in late August up on Dirks Field before hitting the road to open the season at Lubbock Christian at the LCU Soccer & Track Facility in Lubbock, Texas, on Thursday, Sep, 5, at 6:30 p.m.

Season tickets and single tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through HomeTown Ticketing.
