Men’s golf off to slow start out on West Coast, round two suspended due to darkness

10/13/2025 8:08:00 PM

SEASIDE, Calif. – Up against slight winds, chilling coastal rainfall, and low-light conditions, the Fort Lewis men's golf team finds itself in 13th with a team score of 618 (+42) after the first full round of the Otter Invitational over at Bayonet Black Horse.

The Skyhawks were the only team to complete each of the first two rounds at the 7,025-yard, par-72 course. Other teams in the field have roughly one to four holes left in round two before moving on to the third and final round. Fort Lewis fired off a rocky 318 (+30) in round one, but managed to shave off 18 strokes and bounce back with a 300 (+12) through the second 18 holes. The team's overall score of 618 puts FLC just ahead of Menlo College (604, +45), Dominican University of California (614, +51), and Westmont College (625, +53).

Western Washington University, who received votes on the latest national poll, holds a narrow two-stroke edge over California State University San Marcos. The Vikings ended the day with a 583 (+18) against the Cougars' 591 (+20). As for the individual leaderboard, Colorado State University Pueblo's Marius Dosiere leads the field with a two-under-par 135. However, Dosiere still has two holes left in round two, while Cal State San Marcos' Aiden Canada sits one stroke back with a 143 (-1), having completed his second round.

Traejan Andrews is the lone Skyhawk inside the top 25 after two rounds, sitting tied for 15th overall with a four-over-par 148. While Andrews got off to a shaky start with a 77 (+5), he managed to score five birdies in round two to finish with a one-under 71. Jake Chesler sits four strokes behind Andrews in a tie for 33rd on the strength of a 152 (+8).

Jordan Jennings and Benjamin Harding round out the four Skyhawks to compile the team's score in ties for 52nd and 82nd, respectively. Jennings finished with a 155 (+11) while Harding added a 163 (+19). Chase Rogers rounds out the five Skyhawks to travel, carding a 165 (+21).

In total, the Skyhawks tied for the fourth-most birdies (25) thus far, but also led the field with the most double-bogeys (17) and the fifth-most bogeys (52).
