DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis men's golf will make its second appearance in as many years at the Otter Invitational over on the West Coast at Bayonet Black Horse in Seaside, Calif., as its final test of the fall for the 2025-26 season.

Re-designed by golf course architect Gene Bates, the Par-72 course spans as far as 7,025 yards from the black tees with a rating of 73.9 and a slope of 136. Black Horse features sweeping vistas of the Pacific and is highlighted by fescue-framed fairways, bunkers with distinctive, serrated edges, and slickly-contoured greens. The par-three hole 15, created during the renovation, faces the bay and is sure to emerge as one of the great holes on the Peninsula.

Fort Lewis is coming off a tough tie for 14th at last week's NCAA National Preview over at the familiar Boulder Creek Golf Club. The Skyhawks finished just 17 strokes above par with an 881 through 36 holes. Jordan Jennings had the highest individual finish on the squad, earning a tie for 39th on the back of an even-par 216. This week, Fort Lewis is traveling with Jennings, Traejan Andrews, Benjamin Harding, Jake Chesler, and Chase Rogers.

This week's 16-team field features two opponents ranked on the Golf Coaches Association of America Bushnell/Golfweek coaches poll, including No. 17 California State University East Bay and No. 20 California State University Chico.

The rest of the field includes California State University San Marcos, Menlo College, Dominican University of California, University of Hawai'i at Hilo, California State University Dominguez Hills, Colorado School of Mines, California State University Stanislaus, Western Washington University, Simon Fraser University, Westmont College, Colorado State University Pueblo, California State University San Bernardino, and host-institution California State University Monterey Bay.

In addition, Colorado Christian, CSU Pueblo, Simon Fraser, Western Washington, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State San Bernardino, and Colorado School of Mines each received votes on the latest national poll.

The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow. The forecast calls for a chance of storms on Monday and Tuesday, with near-identical highs of 62 and 61 degrees, respectively.
