DURANGO, Colo. – Following a clean sheet victory at home last Sunday, the Fort Lewis men's soccer team has climbed back into a top 15 national ranking, checking in at No. 13 in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches national poll.

Fort Lewis (6-3-4, 2-2-2 RMAC) enjoyed an extended week of rest before returning to action with a single match against Colorado School of Mines (3-7-4, 2-5 RMAC). The Skyhawks dominated possession and pace of play, firing off 24 total shots with 10 shots on goal and 13 corner kicks.

In the end, Lorenz Guintini found the back of the net with a glancing header in the 89th minute with service from Alessio Andreottola to seal the victory as well as the Skyhawks' first shutout of the season. Lucas Martin also made a stellar save on a penalty kick in the 65th minute to keep the Orediggers scoreless.

The Skyhawks currently reside in seventh in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings with eight conference points. With four matches and 12 points still on the table, and dependent on other results around the league, Fort Lewis can still contend for the regular season title and a chance to host an RMAC Tournament match at home on Dirks Field.

Fort Lewis is back in second in the USC South-Central regional rankings, trailing only Midwestern State University (9-3-3, 5-2 LSC), who jumped up to No. 9 in the national poll. Colorado State University Pueblo (7-2-7, 3-2-3 RMAC) dropped out of the rankings, joining Metropolitan State University of Denver (7-3-5, 5-1-1 RMAC) in receiving votes. University of Texas at Dallas (10-3-2, 6-0-1 LSC), in its first year as an NCAA Division II program and member of the Lone Star Conference, earned the program's first-ever national ranking at No. 21.

Tonight, Fort Lewis will resume and complete its previously suspended match (Oct. 3) against Colorado Christian University (2-9-3, 2-2-2 RMAC) at 6:30 pm at Trailblazer Stadium in Lakewood, Colo. The Skyhawks and Cougars will continue play from where the match was suspended, in roughly the 50th minute, with FLC leading 3-0.
