No. 19 Skyhawks welcome Orediggers for senior day, travel to wrap up match with Cougars

DURANGO, Colo. – The No. 19 Fort Lewis men's soccer team (5-3-4, 1-2-2 RMAC) will play in its final regular-season home match on Dirks Field Sunday afternoon, welcoming Colorado School of Mines (3-6-4, 2-4 RMAC) for senior day before traveling up to Lakewood, Colo., to finish its previously postponed match with Colorado Christian University (2-8-3, 2-1-2 RMAC).
 
Senior Day Finale
The Skyhawks will honor five student-athletes playing in their final regular-season home match on Dirks Field, including Quinn Bosanko, Kaden Schufft, Aidan Hartman, David Citron, and Casey Stracher. All five Skyhawks have combined for 190 matches and 14,854 minutes on the pitch in a Fort Lewis kit. Since 2023, the Skyhawks seniors have carried a 14-5-7 record at home.
 
Road Gauntlet
After Sunday, Fort Lewis will close out its regular-season schedule strictly on the road, competing in three and a half matches over the span of nine days. First, FLC will play 40 minutes to complete its previously postponed match with Colorado Christian, before heading out to challenge South Dakota Mines, Regis University, and Adams State University to battle for an appearance in its third-straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament.
 
Split Week
Last week, Fort Lewis played host to back-to-back top 25 matches at home, welcoming then-No. 22-ranked University of Colorado Colorado Springs (7-4-4, 5-1-1 RMAC) and then-No. 23-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (6-2-7, 2-2-3 RMAC). The Skyhawks topped UCCS 3-1 on Thursday night before suffering a 5-0 clean sheet at the hands of the ThunderWolves. Both Quinn Bosanko and Raul Baptista Filipe got onto the 2025 scoring sheet on Thursday, both scoring in the second half to lift FLC to the win.

Bounce-Back Orediggers
Colorado School of Mines will be fresh off a 3-1 victory against Adams State on Friday morning. The Orediggers got back in the win column after suffering four consecutive losses, including two by way of a shutout. Three different Orediggers found the back of the net against the Grizzlies, with another four playing all 90 minutes on the pitch. For the season, CSM has scored 20 goals against 25 goals from its opponent, firing 9.0 shots and 4.8 shots on goal per match.
 
Getting on the Board
The Orediggers have been held scoreless just four times this season, boasting just one shutout of their own in a 2-0 win over Azusa Pacific University (4-6-3, 3-1-2 PacWest). Colorado School of Mines has shown glimpses of a strong offense, putting up two goals in each of its three ties and one goal each through two of its last three losses. 12 different players have found the back of the net thus far, with six different Orediggers scoring two or more goals each.

Continuation with the Cougars
Fort Lewis and Colorado Christian will resume their Oct. 3 match on Tuesday night, picking up right where the match left off in the 50th minute of the second half. The Skyhawks took a 3-0 lead early in the second half, with a pair of goals from Alessio Andreottola and a third from Yohann Fila. Colorado Christian had taken just one shot thus far, coming off the foot of Lucas Peruzo.
 
Cougars in Recent Weeks
Since the match, Colorado Christian has gone 2-1-2, earning back-to-back wins over Adams State and Colorado School of Mines before taking a 0-1 loss to Regis, and forcing a pair of 3-3 and 1-1 ties with South Dakota Mines and UCCS, respectively. CCU is averaging 1.8 goals per game on 7.2 shots per match, including 4.4 shots on goal per match. Peruzo and Salvador Fernandes have the Cougars through the same stretch, scoring two and three goals each, respectively.
