DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College women's soccer team etched its name deeper into the record books Friday night, posting its seventh consecutive shutout in a 2–0 victory over Colorado Christian University at Dirks Field. The win extended the Skyhawks' scoreless streak to 630:33 minutes, setting a new program benchmark for freshman goalkeeper Trinity Lujan and the Fort Lewis defense.
The Skyhawks' dominance at home continued, as the squad has yet to concede a goal on its own pitch this season. With one regular-season home match remaining, Fort Lewis has outscored opponents 21–0 at Dirks Field.
The win lifted Fort Lewis to 9-4-2 overall and 6-2-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play while Colorado Christian University dropped to 2-7-6 on the year and 1-4-5 in league play. Nine wins matches the Skyhawks' mark from 2024, and six wins in conference play is the most since 2019.
The Skyhawks owned a 15-4 advantage in shots for the match, including a 7-2 lead in shots on goal. Fort Lewis played to seven corners and allowed zero for Colorado Christian. It was a clean match with just five total fouls whistled.
Senior Anna Tucker scored the game winning goal, and redshirt freshman Kiana Jamerson added the game's second goal in the second half. Senior Josie Coulter, junior Jenna Salazar, and freshman Lova Sjölund earned assists in the win. Fifth year Danielle Gonzales played 90 minutes and had a pair of wonderful shots that were near misses, and senior Renee Junna added 90 minutes of shutout defense. Lujan earned the win, collecting two saves and bringing her goals against average to .42 on the year.
Fort Lewis wasted little time getting ahead in the match, scoring in the fifth minute off the foot of Tucker—her fifth of the season. The play developed with a perfect through ball from Coulter that met Salazar across the midfield line. Salazar sent an unselfish pass across the box, finding Tucker who took a mid-stride shot low-right for a 1-0 lead.
Nkrumah nearly doubled the lead in the 17th minute after sprinting to meet the opposing keeper for a pass into the box. Nkrumah managed to get a shot off, but it missed by mere inches right of goal to maintain the score. The Cougars put their first shot on goal in the 29th minute, resulting in a routine save for Lujan in goal. Colorado Christian had a better look in the 36th minute when a cross was chipped by a Cougars forward, giving Lujan momentary trouble before the freshman executed her second save of the night.
The duo of Spence and Gomez combined for a pair of late shots on goal in the first half, both resulting in fantastic saves for the Colorado Christian keeper. The Skyhawks held a 6-2 edge in shots of the half with a 3-2 advantage in shots on target.
The Cougars came out of the halftime break with renewed energy and owned possession for the first 15 minutes of the second half. Fort Lewis had a great look in the 61st minute when a cross by Salazar found the head of Coulter in front of goal. The senior buried it, but an offside call waived off the goal and held the 1-0 difference.
After fighting for possession for most of the second half, Fort Lewis found a much-needed break in the 73rd minute when Sjölund collected a deflection off of the Colorado Christian backline. The freshman sent it ahead to Jamerson who worked through three defenders to slice her fourth goal of the season over the head of the new Cougars keeper. The Skyhawks had another goal whistled off due to an offside violation and eventually ran the clock out on the 2-0 victory.
Fort Lewis (9-4-2, 6-2-1 RMAC) heads into Sunday's match, the regular-season home finale, against MSU Denver (2-7-7, 2-4-4 RMAC) riding three-straight wins and a shutout streak that hopes to live on heading into the final match of conference play. The Roadrunners are coming off a 1-0 win over Western Colorado this evening in Gunnison.
