Men’s soccer back on the rise in national poll

10/7/2025 2:53:00 PM

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College men's soccer (4-1-3, 0-0-1 RMAC) has leaped back into the top 10 on this week's United Soccer Coaches top 25 national poll, checking in at No. 9 after the opening week of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

The top-ranked Skyhawks, who have settled into consecutive appearances on each USC national poll since October of 2023, have jumped back into the top 10 for the third time this season. Fort Lewis opened up conference play last week, but has earned just a single point with a tie against Metropolitan State University of Denver (3-2-5, 1-0-1 RMAC) last Sunday, after Friday night's match against Colorado Christian University (1-7-1, 1-0-0 RMAC) was postponed due to lightning.

FLC led CCU 3-0 just minutes into the second half before lightning delays and inclement weather forced the match to be postponed. Alessio Andreottola had found the back of the net twice, and Yohann Fila once before the stoppage. The two teams and departments will work together to find a date and time to make up the match.

Fort Lewis also took back the No. 1 spot on the South-Central regional poll, edging Colorado State University Pueblo (4-0-6, 0-0-2 RMAC), who slid to No. 11 on this week's national poll. Midwestern State University (5-2-3, 1-1-0 LSC) checked in at No. 22 as the only other team in the South-Central region on the national poll, and the Roadrunners began receiving votes as well.

The Skyhawks will hit the road later this week for their first conference road tests at Westminster University (4-5-1, 0-1-1 RMAC) on Friday, Oct. 10, at 7 pm and Colorado Mesa University (3-4-2, 0-1-1 RMAC) on Sunday, Oct. 12, at 2 pm.
