Men’s soccer to close out regular season with crucial road match at Adams State

DURANGO, Colo. – As the first team on the outside looking in at the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament, Fort Lewis men's soccer (8-4-4, 4-3-2 RMAC) will hunt for a favorable result next door in Alamosa, Colo., tomorrow afternoon in hopes of earning a postseason berth, as the Skyhawks close out the 2025 regular season with a matinee against the Grizzlies at Adams State University (1-14-1, 0-9 RMAC).
 
2025 RMAC Tournament
The conference tournament features the top six teams from the league's regular season standings. Only two teams have clinched their spots thus far, including the regular-season champions, the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (9-4-4, 7-1-1 RMAC) and Metropolitan State University of Denver (8-4-5, 6-2-1 RMAC). Colorado Mesa University (8-5-3, 5-2-2 RMAC), Westminster University (9-6-2, 5-2-2 RMAC), and Regis University (7-5-4, 5-2-2 RMAC) are all tied for the third-through-fifth spots. Colorado State University Pueblo (8-2-7, 4-2-3 RMAC) currently occupies the sixth and final spot in the tournament, with 15 points to Fort Lewis' 14. For the Skyhawks to clinch, they'll need to defeat Adams State and have CSU Pueblo either lose or draw with UCCS later tomorrow night.
 
Three Game Sprint
Fort Lewis is coming off two and a half matches over the span of six days up in Denver, Colo., and Rapid City, S.D. The Skyhawks opened the week with the resumption of their previously suspended match with Colorado Christian University (2-12-3, 2-5-2 RMAC), earning a 5-0 result after the final 40 minutes of action. South Dakota Mines (7-7-3, 2-7-1 RMAC) was next up on the docket, and the Skyhawks came away with another commanding 5-1 result. On the way back home, Fort Lewis stopped by Regis, where the Skyhawks fell 3-1 last Sunday.

Grizzlies This Season
Adams State will be looking to upend the Skyhawks at home tomorrow afternoon to earn its second win of the season. The Grizzlies are currently riding an 11-game skid, with their last draw coming by way of a 3-3 result against Oklahoma Panhandle State University (6-5-5, 2-4-3 SAC) back on Sept. 21, after earning a 5-4 victory, it's only of the season, against Wayland Baptist University (7-5-2, 4-3-2 SAC) three days prior on Sept. 18. ASU has scored 16 goals this season on 5.8 shots per game and 46.7 percent shots on goal percentage. Opponents, however, have tallied 77 total goals (4.81 goals per game) on 20.1 shots per game and an identical 46.7 percent shots on goal percentage.

Looking Ahead
Fort Lewis' fate will be on the line on Wednesday night, as the Skyhawks will need to earn a victory over Adams State to put themselves into a position to earn a spot in the RMAC Tournament. However, FLC will need UCCS to earn either a win or a draw later Wednesday night at CSUP to overtake the ThunderWolves in total points for the sixth and final spot.
