South Central Regionals await Skyhawks cross country

DURANGO, Colo. -- Fort Lewis College cross country will take on foes from the Lone Star and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Saturday at the Walking Stick Golf Course for the 2025 South Central Regional Championships.

The No. 23 women's team races at 10 AM in the 6k, followed by the No. 24 men's team with an 11:15 AM 10k.

Last Time Out
The teams competed in the RMAC Championships two weeks ago at Monument Valley Park in Colorado Springs. The Skyhawks women placed 5th in the field of 15. Fort Lewis was led by senior Hannah Hartwell who crossed the finish line in fourth place (20:45.47) to earn First Team All-Conference honors for the second-consecutive season. Senior Alliyah Molina backed her up well with a Second Team All-Conference performance, placing 16th with a personal best time of 21:39.46—just 1.4 seconds off First Team honors.

The men's team also placed 5th, led by freshman Evan Morozowich who placed 30th with a time of 25:30.49. Junior Cesar Diaz backed him up with a 32nd place spot, 29 points and a time of 25:33.16. The Skyhawks' third finisher was freshman Cooper Filmore who clocked a time of 25:45.05, good for 39th place and 36 points.

The Road to Nationals
  • Automatic Bids: Top three teams from the men's and women's regionals
  • Team Qualifiers (At-Large)
    • Ten at-large teams will be selected by the NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Cross Country Committee.
  • Individual Qualifiers
    • Top two from non-qualifying teams qualify automatically, as does any individual from a non-qualifying team who finishes in top five overall. Eight more selections nationally are also made.

The regional meet is a premier race in NCAA DII with 14 teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top 25—12 of which hail from the RMAC.

The top-25 finishers at Saturday's meet will earn USTFCCCA All-South Central Regional honors.
