Soaring Skyhawks
Heading down the final stretch of conference play, Fort Lewis continues to boast the league's leading scorer in senior Biko Johnson. The six-foot-two guard is averaging 17.0 points per game while firing off at clips of 40.3 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from deep, and 75.5 percent at the free throw line, marks that rank 19th, seventh, and 18th among conference players, respectively. Senior Chuol Deng supplies another 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with Tru Allen following closely behind with 12.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. As a unit, Fort Lewis ranks fifth in offense averaging 78.5 points per game.

On the defensive side, Stewart Erhart continues to be the driving force, averaging 2.3 steals per game, followed by Johnson and Allen, who add 2.1 and 1.8 steals per game, respectively. With Erhart at the helm, Fort Lewis' high-octane defense continues to rank first in steals (12.5 per game), sixth in turnovers forced (19.77 per game), and seventh in turnover margin (+6.8) across NCAA Division II.

Scouting the Mavericks
Colorado Mesa enters the week fresh off a narrow 74-73 loss at home to Regis (14-8, 12-2 RMAC), and has lost three of its last five games. The Mavericks boast a stingy defense that holds opponents to 71.3 points per game on 44.4 percent shooting, ranking sixth in the RMAC in both categories. On the offensive side, however, CMU is scoring a twelfth-best 71.0 points per game on a 44.8 percent shooting percentage.

Five Mavs are scoring eight or more points per game while three boast double-digit averages, including Ty Allred (15.0 pts/game), Will Mortimore (10.5 pts/game), and Harvey White (10.5 pts/game). Allred and Mortimore lead the roster with 6.1 and 6.9 rebounds per game, respectively, while Harvey leads the team in assists (3.0 asts/game). Sophomore center Yaak Yaak leads the RMAC with 41 blocks on the year, averaging 1.9 per game.

Round two with the Mountaineers
Western Colorado, who will take on Adams State (9-13, 4-10 RMAC) on Thursday night, will look to even the score and upend the Skyhawks on Saturday after Fort Lewis previously defeated the Mountaineers 75-73 up in Gunnison, Colo., back on Jan. 9. In a contest in which WCU led by nine points at half, FLC made a second-half charge leading to a Johnson step-back jumper with 0.8 seconds remaining to secure the win.

Johnson matched Western Colorado's Christian Still with a game-high 25 points while Deng added an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double and Cassius Carmichael another 10 points to round out the Skyhawks in double figures. Kade Juelfs also had 16 points for WCU.

Since then, the Mountaineers have gone 2-7 in conference play, with its two wins coming by way of an 89-75 victory at home over New Mexico Highlands (9-13, 2-12 RMAC) and an 84-80 win on the road at Westminster (11-11, 5-9 RMAC).
