DURANGO, Colo. – Former Fort Lewis College men's soccer assistant coach Dillon Nino has left the program to accept the position of assistant men's soccer coach at the University of Dayton. Nino spent four seasons as a defender for the Flyers from 2014-17.

Head coach David Oberholtzer brought Nino on staff before the 2023 campaign, and the duo helped Skyhawks men's soccer return to the regional spotlight. The two met at Dayton in 2014 when Oberholtzer served as an assistant coach for the Flyers.

"Dillon significantly influenced our program and community while he was with us," Oberholtzer commented. "We are thrilled for him as he embarks on this new journey at his Alma Mater."

With Nino on staff, Fort Lewis made back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Tournament, the first since the Skyhawks won the national championship in 2011, and made a run to the national quarterfinals last fall. In addition, the Skyhawks captured the 2023 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and have amassed a 26-9-10 overall record and a 13-3-4 mark in conference play over the past two years.

Fort Lewis has boasted two All-Americans in second-team honoree Anton Hjalmarsson and third-team honoree David Citron, with Citron doubling down as a College Sports Communicators First-Team Academic All-American last year. The Skyhawks have also boasted 11 All-Region selections and 10 All-RMAC honorees, the RMAC Player of the Year in 2023, and back-to-back RMAC Freshman of the Year.

While at Dayton, Nino made 67 starts in 70 career matches to amass 5,988 minutes on the pitch. Nino added one goal and three assists for five career points and helped the Flyers to an Atlantic-10 Championship in 2015.
