Skyhawks set for rematch with Rangers in RMAC semifinals

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis (19-11, 12-8 RMAC) fell just one-point short back in December, and now, the sixth-seeded Skyhawks will look to get even with its second-straight opponent, taking on second-seeded Regis (17-12, 14-6 RMAC) in the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday night on the hardwood of Lockridge Arena in Golden, Colo.
 
The Blackout Continues
Fans traveling to Golden to catch the action live are highly encouraged to wear all-black to match the Skyhawks and can find all of the necessary Championship information with the RMAC Men's Basketball Championship Fan Guide. Tickets are available now through RMAC Ticketing and are priced at $15 for general admission and $10 for kids ages 6-17, seniors 65+, and military. Fans at home can watch the game live on pay-per-view on the RMAC Network with either a $9.99 day pass, which provides 24-hour access to all championship broadcasts on the RMAC Network, or with a $70 winter championship pass that gives all-access to all 2024-25 winter championship broadcasts including men's and women's basketball, women's wrestling, indoor track and field, and swimming and diving. Free live statistics will also be available courtesy of Colorado School of Mines Athletics.
 
All-Conference Skyhawks
Senior guard Biko Johnson, who carries Fort Lewis with 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 2.1 steals per game on 40.1 percent shooting, was named First-Team All-RMAC on Thursday. Senior Chuol Deng picked up a Second-Team All-RMAC nod after posting eight double-doubles and averaging 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with 39 steals, 33 assists, and 30 blocked shots. Tru Allen capped his fifth-year senior season with an Honorable Mention All-RMAC accolade, averaging 12.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.9 steals per game.
 
First Meeting
Regis popped Fort Lewis with a 90-89 overtime win in Whalen Gymnasium back on Dec. 7, 2024. The Rangers dominated off the glass, out-rebounding the Skyhawks 46-28 for 40 points in the paint and 18 second-chance points. Sophomore Jalen Brown and junior Chase Mayo-Harmon supplied Regis with a pair of 25-point and 23-point performances, respectively. Senior guard Trey Bryant also had a 17-point, 12-rebound double-double. Allen led Fort Lewis with 22 points followed by Johnson with 19 points, Keither Florence with 12 points, and Cassius Carmichael with another 10 points to round out the Skyhawks in double figures.
 
Rangers to Watch
Mayo-Harmon, a 2024-25 First-Team All-RMAC selection, leads Regis with 15.7 points per game on 43.8 percent shooting while adding 3.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. The six-foot-four guard has gone for 20 points on seven occasions, with a season-high 27 points at MSU Denver (Jan. 21). Brown pours in another 13.5 points per game, Kobe Sanders another 11.6 points per game, and Eddy Egun the final 11.3 points per game to round-out the Rangers to average double figures.
 
Sanders leads all Rangers with 120 assists (4.1 asts/game), while Bryant pulls down a team-high 4.9 rebounds per game. As a team, Regis has averaged the league's tenth-best offense (74.9 points per game) and the 13th-best defense (76.2 points per game). The Rangers are firing at clips of 47 percent from the floor, 36.5 percent from deep, and 75.6 percent at the charity stripe.

A win for Fort Lewis would push the Skyhawks into the RMAC Tournament title game against the winner of top-seeded and No. 9/9 Colorado School of Mines and fifth-seeded Black Hills State (18-11, 13-7 RMAC) on Saturday, Mar. 8, at 7 p.m. in Lockridge Arena.
