DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis softball team will play its final home series of 2025 on Aspen Field this Thursday and Friday as the Skyhawks (9-31, 8-27 RMAC) welcome the Yellow Jackets (23-21, 21-15 RMAC) from Black Hills State for its annual Faculty Appreciation and Senior Day games.
 
Faculty Appreciation and Senior Day
The Skyhawks will recognize members of the Fort Lewis College faculty and staff on Thursday afternoon. On Friday, Fort Lewis will honor its five graduating seniors, including Faith Sgro, Emalynn Redmann, Stacia Raley, Amiee Shanks, and Briana Jorgensen. A hospitality tent with snacks and beverages will also be set up in left field.
 
Looking to Rebound
Fort Lewis is coming off a tough road trip to Chadron State (17-25, 13-23 RMAC), where the Skyhawks fell three games to one and ended the trip with a commanding 10-2 victory in five innings. True freshman Chloe Padilla (3-5), now the Skyhawks leader in wins, held the Eagles to a single earned run on four hits and six walks while striking out seven. Padilla recorded 17 strikeouts across her 12.0 innings pitched over the weekend.
 
Jorgensen led the charge in game four, going 2-for-4 with an RBI single, an RBI fielder's choice, and a two-run homer for one run and four RBIs. Redmann added another 2-for-4 performance and picked up her first career homer with a three-run shot to left field. McKenna Timmons, who also notched her first career homer with a solo shot, led the team with three runs scored.

Series History
Fort Lewis boasts a commanding 37-7 record all-time over Black Hills State, including a 21-3 mark at home on Aspen Field. The Skyhawks have won 17 straight games and five consecutive series.
 
Scouting the Yellow Jackets
Black Hills State is off to its best season in program history, eclipsing 20 wins for the first time and currently residing in fifth in the RMAC standing, positioning the Yellow Jackets for its first post-season appearance in its NCAA Division II era and first since making the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) Dakota Athletic Conference tournament back in 2011. BHSU has split back-to-back series splits with Colorado Christian (32-14, 28-8 RMAC) and UCCS (26-20, 20-15 RMAC) after suffering a 3-1 series loss to Colorado School of Mines (17-29, 16-19 RMAC) back on Mar. 28-29.
