BOULDER CITY, Nev. – Following a pair of leads in the early going, the Fort Lewis College men's and women's golf teams find themselves in third and fifth, respectively, after the opening round of the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club.

On the men's side, the Skyhawks stand as one of five teams to finish below par and just four strokes back from the lead. No. 1-ranked and defending national champions Colorado Christian pace the tournament with a 276 (-12), followed by No. 50 Colorado School of Mines with a 277 (-11), with Fort Lewis closely behind on a 280 (-8). FLC holds an eight-stroke lead over fourth place and No. 35 CSU Pueblo (284, -4).

As for the women, the Skyhawks reside in the middle of the pack on a team score of 303 (+15). The first-round score puts Fort Lewis 12 strokes back from tournament leaders Colorado Christian and Westminster, who carded a pair of 291s (+3), and holds a one-stroke lead over sixth-place MSU Denver (304, +16).

Freshman Peyton Gibby led the women's team through round one, carding one of just five below-par scores on the women's leaderboard, a 71 (-1), to sit in a three-way tie for third place. Despite a double bogey on hole eight with another pair of bogeys as well, Gibby put up five birdies to finish below par. Westminster's Ashley Lam leads the individual leaderboard with a dominant 68 (-4).

Dimery Plewe and Sarah Grenemyer also reside inside the top 25, finishing in splits for 19th and 22nd, respectively. Plewe edged Grenemyer by a single stroke, finishing four above par with a 76 against Grenemyer's 77 (+5). Isabel Bustillos (79, +7) and Vivianna Holguin (80, +8) round out the squad, separated by a single stroke once more, in ties for 29th and 31st.

Senior Ronald Kildall III paced the Skyhawks men, shooting a strong 68 (-4) alongside four others to sit in a tie for second place on the men's leaderboard. The Everett, Wash., native carded seven birdies to offset a trio of bogeys. Colorado Christian's Sangha Park will carry just a one-stroke lead into round two thanks to a 67 (-5).

All four remaining Fort Lewis men reside in the top 20, and three recorded below-par finishes. Jordan Jennings is the only other Skyhawk inside the top 10, taking a tie for 10th on a 70 (-2), followed by Traejan Andrews and Tyler Tyson in a tie for 15th on a pair of 71s (-1), and Jake Chesler in a tie for 20th after shooting a one-over-par 73.
