Softball season comes to a close in Denver

Fort Lewis finishes 10-38 overall in 2025

DENVER, Colo. – The 2025 edition of Fort Lewis softball came to an end on Saturday afternoon at the Regis Softball Field in Denver, Colo., as the Skyhawks capped the season with a 10-38 overall record and 9-34 mark in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play following a pair of 7-4 and 10-1 losses at the hands of the Rangers from Regis (21-30, 20-22 RMAC).

Regis 7, Fort Lewis 4
The Skyhawks had flipped the script to open the second day of the four-game series, leaping out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. A fielding error forced by Briana Jorgensen brought in the opening run, and a pair of run-batted-in (RBI) singles from Skyler Dietz and Makenna Milliman drove in the other two.

Regis bounced back quickly, however, pushing across five runs of their own in the bottom of the second inning on five total hits and one error. While a pair of RBI singles put the Rangers within one, it was a bases-clearing three-RBI triple from Mia Moore that put the home team on top. RU added two more insurance runs in the third and fourth innings, both thanks to Bella Bordine, who belted a solo homer before rifling an RBI single.

Fort Lewis would score one final run in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI infield single from senior Emalynn Redmann. Addison Gavigan (2-7) was credited for the loss, surrendering six earned runs on six hits and a wild pitch. After Gavigan was chased out in just 2.0 innings of work, Chloe Padilla (4-7) closed out the final 4.0 innings, giving up one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts. Both Gavigan and Padilla walked two batters each. Kylie Harmpan (1-3) earned her first win of the season with one earned run allowed on five hits, one walk, and one hit-by-pitch in 4.0 innings of work.

Regis 10, Fort Lewis 1 (5 Inn.)
Riding the momentum of three straight wins, Regis would not be held back from the series sweep. The Rangers' offense exploded, registering 11 hits for 10 earned runs. RU leaped out to an early 2-0 lead with back-to-back doubles from Ariana Ybarra and Olivia Wick, and later went on to rifle off seven runs on five hits with two runners left on base in the bottom of the second inning. The Rangers stole six bases and took full advantage by adding a trio of doubles and two singles to institute the run-rule.

It was another lead-off single followed by a double in the bottom of the fourth inning that brought in Regis' final run of the series. Fort Lewis went on to avoid the shutout, however, pushing one run across in the top of the fifth inning thanks to back-to-back singles, a walk, and an RBI ground-out from Sienna Mullin.

Caitlyn Potts (3-6) took the win, throwing 4.1 innings and allowing a single earned run on four hits and two walks. Hailie Mann (2-15) took the loss, posting a final line of eight earned runs on six hits and three walks in 1.2 innings of work.
