Women’s golf heads for warmer weather at RJGA Palm Valley Classic

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis women's golf team will look to ditch the varying temperatures of Southern Colorado on Friday and Saturday as the Skyhawks look to take on the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic for the fifth consecutive season over at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz.
 
The Skyhawks will take on the North and South courses of Palm Valley Golf Club, facing 6,005 yards and a par of 72. Both of the nine-hole courses were designed by renowned architect Arthur Hills.
 
Fort Lewis will face a challenging field of west and south-central region talent, including No. 13 West Texas A&M, No. 16 UT Tyler, No. 32 Cal State East Bay, No. 33 Biola, No. 38 CSU Pueblo, No. 47 Texas A&M International, Cameron, Point Loma, Texas A&M Kingsville, UT Permian Basin, Colorado Christian, Hawaii Hilo, Western New Mexico, Hawaii Pacific, Lubbock Christian, MSU Denver, Western Washington, and Northwest Nazarene.
 
Last time out, sophomore Sarah Grenemyer led the Skyhawks to a sixth-place finish on a team score of 627 (+51). The Albuquerque, N.M., native, registered a tie for 25th, shooting single-round scores of 80 (+8) and 75 (+3) en route to a 155 (+11) total. Senior Vivianna Holguin was the next player up, tying for 30th and residing one stroke back from Grenemyer on a 156 (+12).

Fort Lewis will make one final regular season appearance next Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 12-13, up north at the Maverick Challenge at The Golf Club at Redlands Mesa up in Grand Junction, Colo.
