DURANGO, Colo. – Four student-athletes from the Fort Lewis College softball team have been named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® teams, the organization announced on Tuesday.

The 2025 Academic All-District® Softball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Select Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 17, 2025.

Senior Amiee Shanks, a native of Tucson, Ariz., paved the way, earning her second nod to the CSC Academic All-District® teams as well as her fifth academic award overall. Posting a 4.03 Earned Run Average through 74.2 innings pitched and 20 appearances, Shanks carried a 3.93 Grade Point Average and graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Physiology.

Junior Skyler Dietz leads the remaining trio of first-time Academic All-District® honorees, boasting a perfect 4.00 GPA, focusing her studies on Elementary Education. On the field, the Atwater, Calif., native started in all 39 games played, the fifth-most among Skyhawks, and racked up a .322 batting average.

Cali Niccum, a junior from Yuba City, Calif., picked up her first career academic award on the back of a 3.93 GPA while studying Criminology & Justice Studies. Returning for her first full season with Fort Lewis, Niccum made 35 starts in 37 games, putting up a .223 batting average and finishing with the second-most home runs on the roster.

In her first season of eligibility, redshirt freshman Makenna Milliman earned the nod with a 3.81 GPA while studying Elementary Education. Named Fort Lewis' Female Comeback Athlete of the Year at its recent Skyler's student-athlete awards, Milliman returned from injury to make 35 starts in 37 games and lead the team with a .391 batting average and a .949 on-base-plus-slugging percentage for 24 runs batted in.
