RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The NCAA West South Central Regional kicked off at the Victoria Club on Thursday afternoon, featuring Fort Lewis men's golf's Traejan Andrews, who shot a steady one-over-par 73 to reside in a tie for 66th among the 108-player field.

Andrews, a six-foot-one North Ridge High School graduate from Greeley, Colo., made his NCAA postseason debut as the fourth Skyhawks since 2011 to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA regional.

After kicking off the round with a par on hole one and a birdie on hole two, Andrews knocked down an eagle on hole three, putting him at three-under-par through the first six holes. Then, a pair of bogeys on holes seven and nine secured a one-under 34 off the front nine.

A slow start to the back nine set the stage for a costly double-bogey on hole 12, but Andrews managed to regain his footing and offset another pair of bogeys with another set of birdies to cap the afternoon at one-over-par. He sits two strokes back from the top 50, three strokes back from the top 25, and six strokes back from the top 10.

St. Mary's Baptiste Touchard, ranked No. 43 on SCOREBOARD among NCAA DII men's golfers, sits tied for the lead with Oklahoma Christian's No. 19-ranked Oskari Nikku. The duo carded a pair of nine-under-par 63s. The pair accounted for two eagles, two bogeys, and 16 pars.

No. 1-ranked defending national champions, and 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Champions, Colorado Christian, took the lead on the team scoreboard, putting up a combined 18-under-par 270 to sit two strokes ahead of host institution Cal State San Bernardino (272, -16) followed by third-place No. 17 Cal State East Bay (273, -15), fourth-place No. 6 Oklahoma Christian (278, -10), and fifth-place West Texas A&M (279, -9)

Andrews is set to tee off for round two tomorrow afternoon, Friday, May 9, at 2:20 p.m. MDT.
