DURANGO, Colo. – Redshirt junior linebacker Jacob Penney has been named to the 2025 Preseason All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference team, while Fort Lewis football checks in at ninth in the league's preseason coaches poll at the 2025 RMAC Football Media Day.

Penney, a six-foot, 200-pound product out of Spanish Springs High School in Sparks, Nev., was a Second-Team All-RMAC selection and First-Team All-National Football Foundation Colorado Chapter honoree last season. Entering the fall, Penney joins 28 student-athletes on the conference preseason team, with each player previously earning either First-Team, Second-Team, or Honorable Mention status.
The RMAC's preseason teams are determined by placing returning players in order of head coaches' voting from the league's 2024 All-RMAC Teams. In total, the 2025 Preseason All-RMAC Football Team features 13 returning First-Team selections, 11 second-team selections, and five honorable mentions.

As a team, Fort Lewis comes in at ninth on the league's preseason coaches poll with 17 points. The Skyhawks finish ahead of tenth-place Adams State (9 points), and trail Chadron State and New Mexico Highlands, who tied for seventh place with 31 total points. 2024 RMAC Champions CSU Pueblo and Western Colorado were picked to contend for this season's title with 76 points each.
