Fort Lewis football welcomes 61 student-athletes

 DURANGO, Colo. – In preparation for the 2025 football season, Fort Lewis College Head Football Coach Johnny Cox has welcomed 61 new student-athletes to his Skyhawks squad up on the rim.
 
"I'm extremely excited about this class," Cox commented. "I believe our coaching staff did an excellent job of finding some high-character, talented football players who love Fort Lewis College. Once this class begins to develop, we are going to be excellent in the trenches and exciting to watch out on the perimeter."
 
In addition to signing 48 freshmen with talents from across the Four Corners region, the Skyhawks also leaned into veteran leadership and brought in 13 student-athletes from the transfer portal, including one student-athlete from a Division I institution, five from Division II, two from Division III, three from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and two from the junior college ranks of the Southern California Football Association (SCFA).
 
In total, the Skyhawks loaded up with 11 linebackers, 10 wide receivers, 10 offensive linemen, eight tight ends, eight defensive backs, seven defensive linemen, four running backs, two kickers, and a quarterback.
