PGA Riviera Maya awaits Skyhawks men’s golf in Mexico

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's golf team will look to get back on track this Sunday through Tuesday as the Skyhawks head south across the border for the Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya, hosted by Western New Mexico University, down in Akumal, Quintana Roo, Mexico.
 
Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the championship course at PGA Riviera Maya stretches back to 7,272 yards from the black tees. The natural rock and bodies of water create a challenging rating of 75.0 and a slope of 137. The Skyhawks will play three 18-hole rounds over the course of their three days in Mexico.
 
Fort Lewis is coming off an eighth-place finish at the San Juan Intercollegiate up at The Bridges Golf & Country Club last Monday and Tuesday, where the Skyhawks fired off an even par of 852 as a team through three rounds. Jordan Jennings and Traejan Andrews led FLC in the tournament, with the duo finishing four below par with a pair of 209s. Representing the Skyhawks this week will be Andrews, Jennings, Jake Chesler, Ian Henderson, and Benjamin Harding.
 
Shootout at PGA Riviera Maya will feature a daunting slate of nationally-ranked program's from across the West South-Central super region, including No. 8-ranked Oklahoma Christian University, No. 24 CSU Pueblo, Western New Mexico, No. 19 Colorado Mesa, (RV) West Texas A&M University, University of Texas Permian Basin, (RV) Colorado School of Mines, (RV) University of Texas at Tyler, No. 16 California State University East Bay, (RV) California State University San Bernardino, Lubbock Christian University, Texas A&M International University, No. 14 Colorado Christian University, and Team Mexico.
 
Looking Ahead
Fort Lewis will head to Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., the site of the 2025-26 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship, as well as the final site for the NCAA Division II Men's Golf National Championship, for the National Preview hosted by the University of Missouri St. Louis next Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 6-7.
