Hartwell named National Runner of the Week

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) released its National Athletes of the Week on Monday afternoon and Fort Lewis College's Hannah Hartwell brought home her first career honor.

Hartwell, one of the premier distance athletes in the country, began her senior campaign with an event title, meet record, and personal best at the Joe I. Vigil Invite. Hartwell clocked a time of 16:49.3 in the 5k while earning the win by nearly 30 seconds over Tristian Spence of Adams State. Hartwell crossed the line four seconds faster than the previously established meet record (Brianna Robles, Adams State, 2024).

Fort Lewis continues its preparation with two weeks of training before heading to Denver for the annual Roadrunners Invitational, hosted by MSU Denver at Washington Park.
