DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis men's soccer senior Lucas Martin was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Week Six Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced Tuesday morning.

From Middlesbrough, England, Martin earned his third weekly conference award of the season after receiving it twice in 2024, on Sept. 17 and Nov. 7. He joins Simão Agostinho, Raul Baptista Filipe, and Noam Maggartou as Fort Lewis' fourth player of the week this year. Last week, Martin's efforts helped Fort Lewis defeat Westminster University (3-5-4, 1-2-1 RMAC) and Colorado Mesa University (4-2-5, 2-1-1 RMAC), who were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll, by identical 2-1 scores.

Martin stepped up in the biggest moment on Friday night against Westminster in the 77th minute, when a foul in the box granted the foes a penalty kick. The Griffins had scored their first of the match moments early in the 71st minute, and trailed by a single score. Westminster looked to equalize in the bottom-left corner, but Martin had other plans, diving to the far post to make the save and keep Fort Lewis ahead. He picked up another crucial save in the 86th minute and finished with five saves against six shots on goal, 17 shots overall, and six corner kicks.

On Sunday afternoon, Martin rose to the occasion against a team that was averaging over 17 shots a game, recording three saves on four shots on goal, 14 shots overall, and five corner kicks. Martin was ready when the Skyhawks needed him most, making another pair of crucial saves down the stretch against a header inside the box in the 83rd minute and again against a lunging strike from six yards out in the 89th.

Fort Lewis is on the road this week with a daunting gauntlet ahead that features trips to No. 14-ranked University of Colorado Colorado Springs (6-1-5, 1-1-2 RMAC) at 7 p.m. in Mountain Lion Stadium on Thursday, Oct. 8, and No. 8-ranked Colorado State University Pueblo (8-0-2, 2-0-2 RMAC) at Art and Lorraine Gonzales Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 2:30 p.m.
