Skyhawks head east for The Sam Proal

DURANGO, Colo. ­– The Fort Lewis men's golf team is continuing its spring campaign this Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 30-31, with a trip out east to the Pueblo Country Club for The Sam Proal.
 
Hosted by Colorado State University Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo., the 16-team tournament will play 54 holes across the 6,428-yard, par 71 course that features a rating of 69.3 and a slope of 122. Teams will play 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 on Tuesday.
 
Fort Lewis is coming off a seventh-place finish among 13 teams at the Coyote Classic (Mar. 23-24) last weekend. The Skyhawks fired off scores of 298 (+10), 301 (+13), and 296 (+8) to cap the tournament with a 31-over 895. Traejan Andrews led the team with a T-18 finish, scoring a 219 (+3) on the back of a third-round 70 (-2). Chase Rogers matched Andrews with a career-best 70 (-2) in the final round, moving the freshman into a career-best T-20 finish on the final day of action.

Representing the Skyhawks this week will be Andrews, Rogers, Jake Chesler, Jordan Jennings, and Ian Henderson. Benjamin Harding will also make the trip but compete as an unattached individual. 
 
The field includes five teams ranked inside the SCOREBOARD top 50, including No. 12-ranked Colorado Mesa University, No. 13 CSU Pueblo, No. 14 West Texas A&M University, No. 31 Colorado Christian University, and No. 45 Colorado School of Mines.
 
The Skyhawks will also see the University of Texas at Dallas, Saint Martin's University, South Dakota Mines, Lubbock Christian University, Western New Mexico University, Westmont College, Hutchinson Community College, Dodge City Community College, Westminster University, and Montana State University Billings.
 
Looking Ahead
Fort Lewis will have one final regular-season tune-up at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association's Palm Valley Classic on Monday and Tuesday, Apr. 6-7, over at Palm Valley Golf Club in Goodyear, Ariz. The 2026 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships are set for Sunday through Tuesday, Apr. 19-21, at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
