Northwest Nazarene draws penalty in final minutes

NAMPA, Idaho – Fort Lewis men's soccer was felled Thursday night by Northwest Nazarene University after the Nighthawks earned a penalty kick in the 82^nd minute and held on to hand the Skyhawks their first loss of the 2026 campaign.

The Skyhawks offense managed just eight shots overall with a pair on target en route to falling to 3-1-1 overall. Northwest Nazarene rifled off 14 shots, the most by a Fort Lewis opponent thus far, placing a lethal seven shots on goal. Lucas Martin saved all six shots on goal fired from live play.

In a clean affair, the Nighthawks committed just nine fouls to the Skyhawks' six while also forcing four corner kicks against Fort Lewis' one. NNU's Rylan McPherson led all players with three shots on goal across five total attempts, followed by Caleb Putney, who took three shots of his own, two on target, including the penalty kick that marked his third goal of the season and second from the line.

Francisco Pinto and Raul Baptista Filipe posted the only shots on goal for the Skyhawks, and Baptista Filipe led the team with two shots overall. Martin, Pinto, Iver Høihjelle, Anis Harrar, and Noam Maggartou played the full 90 minutes.

-Northwest Nazarene ties up the series at 1-1-1 overall. Both teams have each won at home and tied at a neutral site.
