KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Fort Lewis College men's soccer player Fabian Kling was named to the Daktronics All-America third team while teammate Jamie Cunningham received All-America honorable mention.

Kling, a 6-foot-3 junior defender from Holblein High School in Augsburg, Germany, received All-America recognition for the first time ever. He is a two-time Daktronics All-Central Region performer, having been named to the first team in 2010 and the second team a year ago. Earlier this fall, he was also named to the All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference second team and the RMAC All-Tournament Team. In 2009, he was named to the NSCAA All-Central Region first team and the All-NCAA Division II Final Four Team. As a freshman in 2008, he earned first team All-RMAC honors. He has been a Preseason All-RMAC choice in 2009 and 2010.

Kling led the Skyhawks in goal scoring (eight) in 2010 and ranked second in total points (16).

“What more can you say about a guy who played center back but yet finished the season as our top goal scorer,” said second-year head coach Oige Kennedy. “He has been one of our better performers this year and we expect a lot from him next year when he becomes the captain of this program.”

Cunningham, a 6-foot-2 senior defender from Pinnacle High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., received Daktronics All-America recognition for the second year in a row, having been named to the All-America second team in 2009. He was a two-time Daktronics first team All-Central Region selection, a member of the RMAC All-Tournament Team four times from 2007-10 and a four-time RMAC All-Academic award winner. He also was chosen by league coaches as the 2010 RMAC Preseason Defensive Player of the Year and was a member of the 2008 and 2010 Preseason All-RMAC teams.

Cunningham amassed nine points on four goals and one assist in 2010.

“Jamie has been a rock these last two years and has been a great leader on and off the field,” said Kennedy. “He will be a big miss for us next season.”

The Skyhawks finished the 2010 season with records of 11-5-4 overall and 10-2-2 in the RMAC. Fort Lewis finished runner-up to Colorado Mines in both the regular season and league tournament.

The team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. This is the fifth year Daktronics has sponsored the NCAA Division II men's soccer All-America and all-region teams.

Sports information directors from schools and conferences sponsoring men's soccer selected the Daktronics All-America teams. The process began at the regional level with all first team all-region picks advancing to the national ballot.
