Own Goal Leads Skyhawks to a 1-0 Win

Box Score DURANGO, Colo. – Twenty shots by the Fort Lewis College men's soccer team and eight shots on target against CSU-Pueblo led to no goals scored by the Skyhawks, but they still earned a win Sunday afternoon at Dirks Field.
 
Seven minutes into to the game, a CSU-Pueblo defender attempted to clear the ball on a cross pass but instead but it into the back of his own net.  The goal proved to be the only one scored in the game.
 
The win moves the Skyhawks to 6-3-1 overall and evens their record to .500 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (3-3-0).  CSU-Pueblo drops to 1-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the league.
 
Ryan Schaul notched his fifth win of the season after making four saves between the posts.  The Skyhawks defense held the ThunderWolves to nine shots in the game.
 
Fort Lewis will face No. 24 Metro State on Friday at 3:30 p.m., and Colorado Mines in Golden, Colo. on Sunday at 2 p.m.
