2014 Skyhawks Football Game Day Notes - Oct. 6, 2014

INDIVIDUAL NOTES

The Skyhawks LB Ryan Ross leads the Skyhawks and ranks third overall in the league in tackles with 50 (25 solo). Ross has added five tackles for a loss of 19 yards, one sack for a loss of eight yards, one interception, two breakups and one quarterback hurry.

DB Jake Faust has added 41 tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss of six yards, and two pass breakups.

K/P Kipp Castanha recorded a season high eight punts for a season high 39.9 average on Saturday at Western New Mexico. WR Juquelle Thompson returned a 25-yard punt against the Mustangs for a season high.

The Skyhawks 154 rushing yards at WNMU marked a season high, as did their 4.1 yards per carry.

WR Andrew Johnson leads the Skyhawks receiving unit with a team high receptions (24), yards (324), and yards per game (64.8). Three Skyhawks have caught two touchdowns passes this season: Johnson, Esley Simmons, III, and Jordan Gillen.

QB Jordan Doyle has completed 111-of 199 passes for 1,075 yards and six touchdowns (six interceptions). He has completed his passes at a 55.8 percent clip and with a 105.08 efficiency. He also leads the team in the running game with 257 net yards on 84 attempts and five scores.

QB Trevor Bonifasi saw his first action of the season under center, completing 3-of-5 passes at WNMU for 76 yards and a touchdown.
 

UP NEXT
Fort Lewis will be facing the toughest defense in the league this weekend. Colorado State-Pueblo ranks first in the league in scoring defense (12.8 points per game), total defense (277.0 points per game), passing defense (160.4), passing defense efficiency (79.4), interceptions (10-125 yards, two touchdowns), sacks (20-102 yards), sacks against (5-25 yards), and opponent first downs.

The Pack, which has only allowed 88 opponent first downs, rank ninth in the league in first downs (100).

CSUP's running game is led by Cameron McDondle who ranks second in the league in rushing yards (115.4 per game), scoring (nine touchdowns, 10.8 points per game), and all-purpose yards (128.6 per game).

Two of the league's top sacks leaders hail from CSUP – Morgan Fox has a league high five sacks for 44 yards and Darius Allen is tied for third most with 4.5 sacks-14 yards.

Since 2008 when CSU-Pueblo reinstated football, the ThunderWolves have outscored the Skyhawks 42.7 points per game to 7.5 points per game (256-45).
