2014 Skyhawks Men's Soccer Game Day Notes - Oct. 7, 2014

Offensively, Fort Lewis College is one of the conference leaders in shots, points, goals and assists.   The Skyhawks are tied with Regis in points (57), goals (21) and assists (15).

FLC ranks second in the league in shots with 151, averaging 15.10 shots per game.

Defensively, the Skyhawks are fifth in the league in goals allowed (13), shutouts (two), and goals against average (1.30).  FLC has the sixth most saves in the RMAC with 34.

Yannis Becker leads the RMAC in assists with five (0.5 assists per game).

Four Skyhawks rank in the top ten in the RMAC in points.  Tamino Kroeger is tied for second with 14 points, followed by Yannis Becker's 13 points (fourth), Cesar Castillo's nine points (eighth) and Luke Lawrence's seven points (tenth).

Scouting #19 MSU Denver
Fort Lewis holds a 32-20-4 series lead against MSU Denver.  The Skyhawks are 18-9-1 against the Roadrunners on Dirks Field.

The Skyhawks last win against MSU Denver was in the RMAC semifinals last year.  Prior to that match, the Roadrunners had won the previous four meetings.

After losing back-to-back games for the first time this season last week, MSU Denver defeated Colorado Mines on Sunday, marking their first win over CSM since 2011.

MSU Denver ranks third in the league in shots (150), points (48), and assists (14), and fourth in goals (17).  Defensively, the Roadrunners are tough to score on.  They lead the league in fewest goals allowed (seven) and goals against average (0.76).  

Josh Belfrage ranks second in the RMAC in points (14), and goals (6), while Danny Arrubla is second in assists (3), and sixth in points (11) and goals (4).  

Defending the goal is James Tanner who leads the league in save percentage (.833) and second in goals against average (0.65).

Scouting Colorado Mines
The Skyhawks are 29-14-5 against the Orediggers.  When playing CSM on Dirks Field, Fort Lewis has won 17 games, lost four and tied three.

The Orediggers have won four of their last five games.  They started the season playing seven straight road games and have only played two games at home this season.  CSM is 4-4 on the road this year.

CSM is ranked fourth in the league in shots (144) and assists (13), and fifth in points (45) and goals (16).

They have allowed the third fewest goals in the league (10) and have the third lowest goals against average (0.99).

About the Skyhawks
Three time NCAA Men's Soccer Champions Fort Lewis College is under the guidance of head coach Oige Kennedy, who is entering his sixth year at the helm for the Skyhawks.  

The Skyhawks opening weekend results against Midwestern State University (W, 4-2) and St. Edward's University (L, 1-0) marked the fourth straight season the Skyhawks have opened their schedule with a win.  In six years at FLC, Coach Kennedy has a 9-1-1 (.792) on opening weekend.

After finishing the 2013 season with an 11-8-1 overall record and a 7-7-0 conference mark (fifth place finish), the Skyhawks were picked to finish fifth again in the RMAC preseason coaches poll.  Defender Maik Brandt, midfielder Alberto Capdepon, and midfielder Tamino Kroeger were selected to the RMAC preseason team.
