Washburn Named 2014 RMAC Men’s Golf Summit Award Winner

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference is recognizing Dillon Washburn as the 2014 Summit Men's Golf award winner.

The RMAC Summit Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals sites for each of the RMAC's championships.

All GPAs are based on a straight grading scale to ensure consistency among institutions. Any tie is broken by the number of credits completed.

Eligible student-athletes are sophomores or above who have participated in their sport for at least two years with their school. They must be an active member of the team, traveling and competing at the championship.

Washburn, a redshirt-sophomore, has competed in six of the Skyhawks seven events this season.  In 17 rounds, he has a stroke average of 76.6.  Washburn shot a season best 222 at the WNMU Spring Intercollegiate Tournament, finishing second overall for the Skyhawks (45th overall for the tournament).  He was FLC's top finisher at the RMAC Event #2 in the fall, hosted by CSU-Pueblo, after shooting a 230.  An accounting major at Fort Lewis College, Washburn owns a 3.96 grade point average.

Washburn will be recognized following the RMAC Men's Golf Championships, during the awards ceremony on Tuesday, April 29, at the Golf Club of Estrella in Goodyear, Ariz.
