2014 Volleyball Game Day Notes - 9/29/2014

The Skyhawks will play their fourth and fifth straight matches on the road this coming weekend when they travel to Western State Colorado University and Colorado State University-Pueblo.

The Skyhawks will face the Mountaineers on Friday at 7 p.m.  WSCU is looking for their first win of the season (0-10, 0-6 RMAC).  They are led by Jordan Eatwell's 2.50 kills per set and .161 hitting percentage.  Assisting Eatwell is Tepora Su'a with 8.03 assists per set.

Morgan Stansberry leads the back row with 5.22 digs per set, while Katherine Hoffmeister and Hiley Rehage lead the team with 15 blocks each.

On Saturday, the Skyhawks will travel to Pueblo, Colo. for a 2 p.m. match against the ThunderWolves.

The Pack are ranked second in the conference in blocks with 2.35 blocks per set.  Oni Lattin and Alex Winkler average 1.05 blocks per set, which are the fourth most in the league.

The Skyhawks have played four primary setters this season.  Senior Ciara Krening is 10th in the league with 5.71 assists per set.  Finding the holes from the service line is Lindley Gallegos.  Gallegos has served up the second most aces in the conference (23), just one shy of the leader (Kim Catlett, UCC, 24 aces).  Ally Dell'Amico is third in the RMAC in digs, recording 4.83 digs per set.

Fort Lewis travelled to the front range last weekend to play a triple header against University of Colorado Colorado Springs, Metro State University Denver and #12 Colorado School of Mines.

On Thursday at UCCS, the Skyhawks took a 2-1 match lead after three sets, but fell in sets four and five to take a 3-2 loss.

The Skyhawks blocked 12 attacks by the Mountain Lions with Madi Bickle accounting for 4.5 of those blocks (one solo, seven block assists).  Ashely Wells recorded a team high 15 kills and added a .220 hitting percentage, 18 digs and three block assists.  Emily Dellenbach notched a match high .379 hitting percentage with 12 kills and only one error on 29 attempts.

Senior setter Ciara Krening assisted on 27 kills while Kennedy Clark added 14 assists.  Ally Dell'Amico's 20 digs were a team high and one short of tying for match high honors.

UCCS extended their win streak over the Skyhawks to 10 straight matches.  The Skyhawks now hold a one match lead in the all-time series against UCCS, 24-23.

The following night at MSU Denver, Fort Lewis won the first set but MSUD came back to win the next three.

Courtney Harms made her first appearance of the season, accounting for 28 of the Skyhawks 33 set assists.  Ashley Wells led the Skyhawk offense with 14 kills and a .276 hitting percentage (six errors, 29 total attempts).  Wells, who recorded 15.5 points in the match, added 10 digs.  Ally Dell'Amico led the Skyhawks with 11 digs.

Fort Lewis hit .105 in the match with 36 kills, 23 errors and 124 attempts.

The Skyhawks snapped MSU Denver's four game winning streak against FLC last season at Whalen Gymnasium.  Fort Lewis almost made it two wins in a row against the Roadrunners, but after winning set one Friday night, the Skyhawks would drop the next three sets, 3-1.

Fort Lewis was held to 34 points Saturday night at Lockridge Arena as No. 12 Colorado School of Mines swept the Skyhawks (25-11, 25-11, 25-12).

Madi Bickle posted seven kills on 15 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage (two errors) to lead the Skyhawks offense.  Ciara Krening added 13 assists and Ally Dell'Amico posted a team high 10 digs.

As a team, the Skyhawks hit .000 at the net, tallying 19 kills and committing 19 errors on 87 attempts.

Saturday's 3-0 loss to Colorado Mines marked the sixth time the Skyhawks have been swept in straight sets by the Orediggers.  Despite winning nine matches in a row against FLC, the Skyhawks have a 34-25 series lead.
