Skyhawks Hit the Road against the Grizzlies

UPCOMING GAMES
The Fort Lewis College softball team will head to Alamosa, Colo. to play two doubleheaders against Adams State University this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's games will start at 12 p.m. and Sunday's games start at 11 a.m.
 
NOTES
FLC (3-22 overall, 2-14 RMAC) looks to build off their first conference and home wins on the season as they hit the road this weekend. The Skyhawks are coming off a weekend split against Regis University, taking the second game on both days (1-2, 9-2, 3-8, 5-3).
 
Mandy Owens led the Skyhawks offense this weekend driving in five runs and recording 13 total bases on four hits. Owens also recorded three homeruns and crossed the plate four times. Adriana Rosthenhausler and Allison Young recorded five hits each for the Skyhawks.
 
Kelly Decker recorded her first career win throwing a complete game for the Skyhawks. Decker threw five strikeouts and had a 2.17 earned run average for the weekend. Madison Stanich also threw a complete game in her second win of the season. Stanich struck out five batters and had an earned run average of 3.00 in her lone appearance on Sunday.
 
Angelique Elemen is tied for second in the league with 27 runs batted in.  Elemen also leads the team with six homeruns this season.
 
Rosthenhausler leads the team in batting average (.379), hits (25), walks (16), and assists (51).
 
As a team, the Skyhawks are batting .270 and are tied for sixth in the league with 36 doubles.  The Skyhawks have collected 173 hits on 641 at-bats. Fifty-four of the Skyhawks 173 hits have been extra-base hits.
 
SCOUTING THE GRIZZLIES
Adams State University is 7-19 on the season (6-10 conference) and 3-1 at home. The Grizzlies are coming off a 1-3 weekend against New Mexico Highlands.
 
ASU is batting .288 on the season and have scored 99 runs, which is ninth in the RMAC. The Grizzlies' 30 stolen bases on the season puts them in sixth place in the conference and they are fifth in the league for strikeouts from their pitching, fanning 97 batters.
 
The Grizzlies are led by Tyler Hays, who is third in the league with batting average (.475), hits (38), and total bases (62) on the season. Hays' 21 RBIs, eight doubles, and four homeruns also lead the team. Lauren Murphy leads the Grizzlies pitching attack with five wins and eight complete games.

FLC will return home to face Colorado Mesa University April 1-2 at the Aztec Tigers Sports Complex.
