Softball Falls to Cougars, 13-4, 6-2

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 LAKEWOOD, Colo. – March 4, 2017 – The Fort Lewis College softball team played their second straight weekend on the road in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action.  The Skyhawks lost both games at Lakewood Park in Lakewood, Colo. to Colorado Christian University Saturday afternoon.  FLC fell in six innings in game one, 13-4, and lost 6-2 in game two.
 
In the opening game of the four-game weekend series, Colorado Christian scored 7-0 runs in the first three innings. 
 
Tehenia Telliano drove in the Skyhawks first run of the game on a ground rule double in the fourth inning that scored Angelique Elemen.
 
FLC added three more runs in the fifth inning.  Adriana Rosthenhausler hit a single to the left side to drive home Tristen GilbertGianna Melaragno hit a sacrifice fly that scored Robyn Hall followed by Cassie Sloan stealing home.
 
CCU extended their lead in the fifth inning on three runs to take a 10-4 lead.  Shelbie Day hit a three-run walk off home run to seal the win for the Cougars in six innings, 13-4. 
 
FLC finished with four hits by Rosthenhausler, Elemen, Lauren Caldwell and Telliano.
 
The Cougars scored 13 runs on 13 hits.
 
In game two, the Skyhawks were held to two runs on four hits in a 6-2 setback. 
 
Down 4-0 heading into the fourth inning, Tristen Gilbert hit a double to center field that scored Gianna Melaragno who reached base on a fielding error.  Telliano entered the game as a pinch hitter and registered a double to score Allison Young
 
CCU finished the game with two more runs in the fourth inning.
 
Madison Stanich pitched the first 4.1 innings in the circle, allowing four earned runs on eight hits.
 
FLC will continue play against the Cougars with a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m.
