Women’s Soccer Looks Forward to Five-Straight at Home Beginning Friday Against Greyhounds

DURANGO, Colo. – After playing two straight on the road, the Fort Lewis College women's soccer team will get the chance to enjoy Dirks Field for awhile as they won't be on the road again until Sep. 28. First up, the Skyhawks will face Eastern New Mexico this Friday at 3 p.m. and then West Texas A&M on Sunday at 1 p.m.

FLC showed a lot of fight in their most recent match this past Sunday in a neutral site game against Damian Clarke's former team, Midwestern State. After trailing early, Renee Terrell helped tie the match just over a minute later and then later pushed the Skyhawks in front in the second half. A late penalty kick goal helped the Mustangs salvage a 2-2 tie after neither team scored in the overtime period. The match was called early due to lightning.

FLC will open the week with Eastern New Mexico, as the Greyhounds and Skyhawks met up last year in Portales.

Eastern New Mexico tied St. Mary's to start the season on August 30 and will face New Mexico Highlands on Wednesday before arriving in Durango. They went 5-9-6 last year and opened the season against Fort Lewis in Portales and the teams battled to a 2-2 tie. Alicia Sanchez and Kendyl Neus had the goals in that game for the Skyhawks, with Emma Patron assisting on the second goal.

In the Greyhounds game against St. Mary's, Hayden Zuniga had the only goal and both Kirsten Lane and Taylor Jackson saw time in net, with Jackson logging 96:21 minutes, giving up the only goal, but turning back eight shots.

West Texas A&M is 1-1 on the season, having lost at home to CSU-Pueblo (0-2) to start the year and then defeating UC-Colorado Springs (2-1) in Canyon. They will play at Adams State on Friday before facing the Skyhawks on Sunday.

Hanna Kelley-Lusk has three points this season, tallying a goal and an assist. Khaline Jacob has the other goal. In net, Courtney Dippel has started two games, allowing three goals, but adding 12 saves.

Last year, WT claimed the 2-0 win over FLC in Canyon.

Live video and stats will be available for both games.
