Neal Continues to Pace Men’s Golf During Final Round of Mustang Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. –
Eric Neal put together three strong rounds to finish even, while the Fort Lewis College men's golf team ended up in a tie for 19th after the third and final round of the Mustang Intercollegiate wrapped up Tuesday at the Palm Valley Golf Club course.

Neal stayed right around the par 72 throughout the three rounds, opening with a 73 and then after a second round 71, came back with a final round 72 for a 216. Fort Lewis as a team tallied rounds of 297-292-297 for an 886 to tie with UT Permian Basin for 19th. Colorado School of Mines won the 23-team tournament with an 840, holding off Western Washington by two-strokes. It was a loaded field that featured eight teams ranked inside the top-50 in the latest GolfStat rankings. Individually, Western Washington's Ethan Casto held off the field with a 15-under 201 to win by two-strokes.

During Neal's final round he sunk birdies on holes six, 12 and 15 and added 12 pars to end up tying for 42nd with his 216. Darren Edwards and Austin Lienemann tied for 83rd with scores of 222. Edwards shot 74 all three rounds, while Lienemann carded scores of 76-70-76. Edwards compiled four birdies on the day on holes two, five, eight and 11. Lienemann added three birdies on holes five, eight and 11. Jack Call was the next one in for the Skyhawks firing a 231 to tie for 107th. He posted round scores of 78-78-75. He tallied a pair of birdies on holes five and 11 and added an eagle on hole two. Rounding out the five for FLC was Blake Kuzava who ended up 116th with a 237 shooting rounds of 74-77-86. He tallied eight pars during the final round. Cristoffer Rudosky competed as an individual and tallied scores of 73-77-78 for a 228 to tie for 102nd.

As a team, FLC shot 3.50 on par-three, 4.21 on par-four and 4.77 on par-five. The Skyhawks also added 148 pars, 44 birdies and had Call's eagle. Individually, Lienemann led the team in par-three (3.33), Neal led in par-four (3.93) and Lienemann led in par-five (4.33). Neal had the most pars on the team with 34, Edwards paced the Skyhawks in birdies with 11 and Call had the only eagle on the team.

FLC will now prepare for the RMAC Championships that will take place Apr. 20-23 at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Chandler, Ariz.
