COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Rocky Mountain Athletics Conference (RMAC) announced the men's soccer All-Academic teams on Monday, with a total of six Fort Lewis College student-athletes earning recognition.

For a third straight year, senior goalkeeper Peter Byrne earned First Team All-Academic honors as he boasts a 3.87 accumulative GPA as an Exercise Physiology major with a minor in Coaching.

The Skyhawks were also represented on the RMAC Honor Roll by fellow seniors Denis Celik and AJ Haskell, as well as junior Andres Hernandez and two freshmen — sophomores academically — in Gabriel Legendre and Jakob Maurek.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. First Team All-Academic members were voted on by the conference's sports information directors for meeting those criteria as well as demonstrating outstanding performance on the pitch.

Byrne has started all 63 career games he has played in for the Skyhawks and heads into the final weekend of the regular season as one of the most decorated goalkeepers in program history. He currently ranks 4th all-time in games played, 5th in career victories with 31, 4th in career saves with 284, and fourth in career shutouts with 20.

Legendre has burst onto the scene for the Skyhawks, ranking second on the team in goals score with 5 and tied for the team lead in points (12). He has also excelled in the classroom since his arrival in 2020, currently sporting a 3.92 GPA as a Chemistry major.

Monday's announcement marked the third straight year of Honor Roll recognition for Celik and Haskell, with Celik owning a 3.35 GPA as a Business Administration major and Haskell sporting a 3.33 GPA while majoring in Engineering.

Hernandez and Maurek each earned their first career RMAC Honor Roll nods. Maurek is a freshman, eligibility wise, with a 3.67 GPA as a Business Administration major, while Hernandez, a junior transfer from Mesa Community College, entered the semester with a 3.44 GPA majoring in Accounting.
