The Skyhawks had 14 student-athletes named to the RMAC All-Academic teams

14 Skyhawks earn RMAC Academic honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) announced the men's and women's cross country All-Academic teams on Thursday with 14 Fort Lewis College student-athletes earning recognition.

To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and must have been an active student at the institution for at least two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters. Those student-athletes not named to the First Team automatically qualified for Honor Roll.

Highlighting the release was junior Katie Fankhouser who picked up First-Team All-Academic honors following a breakout season. Fankhouser is a Business Administration major with a certificate in Digital Marketing and she currently holds a 3.86 GPA.

Representing the women's cross country team on the Honor Roll is the group of Peyton Burnside (3.92 GPA, Psychology, Borders, and Languages), Angel Curley (3.58 GPA, Exercise Physiology), Katherine Gaughan (3.92 GPA, Environmental Studies), Jaden Knight (3.96 GPA, Public Health), Sophia Mena (3.65 GPA, Exercise Physiology and Pre-Health Certificate), Maddy Shoemaker (3.85 GPA, Biochemistry), and Carmella Wright (3.76 GPA, Art K-12 Education).

Six athletes from the men's cross country team earned a spot on the Honor Roll list, including Wacey Begay (3.66 GPA, Public Health), Ethan Bartlett (3.30 GPA, Environmental Science), Brady Burrough (3.77 GPA, Engineering), Alex Colby (3.57 GPA, Exercise Physiology), Cebastian Marquez (3.70 GPA, Exercise Physiology), and Max Robinson (3.86 GPA, Business Administration).

The RMAC Men's Academic Runner of the Year award went to Duncan Fuehne of Colorado School of Mines (3.97 GPA, Physics). Colorado School of Mines also boasted the RMAC Women's Academic Runner of the Year in Zoe Baker (4.0 GPA, Computer Science).
