COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – True freshman Anton Hjalmarsson has become the 14th student-athlete in program history to capture Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-American honors with a Second-Team nod from the organization on Wednesday.

The Smålandsstenar, Sweden, native is just the 36th All-American in program history between the D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches and the first to be recognized by either organization since Yannis Becker (Second-Team) in 2014. Hjalmarsson is the only freshman to earn a first or second-team honor this season.

In addition, Hjalmarsson was also named to the USC All-South Central Region team.

The Skyhawks' six-foot-one forward ranks second in the South-Central region with 33 total points while also sitting in a tie for the third-most goals (11) and assists (11). The marks are also good for the ninth-most points, 34th-most goals, and 12th-most assists across Division II.

Hjalmarsson burst onto the scene this season and was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year by the league's head coaches.

Throughout the year, Hjalmarsson went off for two goals on three occasions including at then 17th-ranked Colorado Mesa University to capture the conference's regular season title. In addition, Hjalmarsson provided three assists in the Skyhawks' three-goal comeback win over the University of Colorado Colorado Springs in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Only three players from the RMAC earned All-American honors and Midwestern State University's Mere Escobar was named the Ron Lenz National Player of the Year.
