FLC Game Notes

Struggles in Golden
Fort Lewis suffered a four-game sweep at the hands of Colorado School of Mines (16-14, 12-10 RMAC) last weekend on the Orediggers home field. Despite notching 30 combined across the weekend, FLC was unable to keep pace with CSM primarily due to striking out 25 times against the home squad's 12. Alex Tenorio extended her hit streak to 12 straight games and caught fire on day two to rack up three doubles, four runs scored, and two walks. Ashley Burriel was the driving force behind Tenorio as she drove in the shortstop four times on Saturday.

Dynamic Duo
Kayla Stone, who has recorded a hit in 24 of her 28 games this season, now stands tied with Tenorio for the most hits on the roster with 37. Not only does the duo own 74 of Fort Lewis' 222 hits, but the pair has also struck out only nine times this season across 181 at-bats. Stone currently ranks eighth in average (.425) among qualified league hitters with 12 doubles, two triples, and three home runs while Tenorio has supplied another nine doubles and three triples. Whereas Stone carries the squad with 27 runs batted in, Tenorio leads the team with 26 runs scored.

Scouting The ThunderWolves
The Pack heads into the week in a similar situation to the Skyhawks after dropping four straight games on the road to No. 8-ranked Colorado Christian (29-4, 21-3 RMAC). While Fort Lewis and CSU Pueblo split last season's series, the ThunderWolves still hold the all-time advantage 74-29.

Sophomore Marissa Robertson (3-7) is the go-to arm for The Pack in the circle this season. The Rocklin, Calif., native has thrown five complete games across her 65.1 innings of work and boasts a 4.82 earned run average. While McKenna James (6-12) has made 17 starts and amassed 90.2 innings, Robertson leads all pitchers on staff with the lowest ERA and lowest opposing average (.312).

On the flip side, Caitlyn Cole has been on a tear for CSUP thus far. The sophomore utility player leads the RMAC in on-base percentage (.578), ranks second in slugging (.914), ranks third in average (.486), and sits second in the league with 19 stolen bags in 22 attempts. Not to mention the Merced, Calif., native owns 16 doubles, a triple, and nine home runs for 37 RBIs and 40 runs scored across her 51 hits.

What Lies Ahead
It will be an exciting weekend up on Aspen Field in Durango as the Skyhawks are set to host conference-leading MSU Denver (29-7, 22-2 RMAC). FLC and MSUD will play a four-game set up on the rim on Friday and Saturday, Apr. 5-6.
