Men’s golf headed to Pueblo for Southern Colorado Masters

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis men's golf team is set to take on some of the best golf squads in the Rocky Mountains this week as the Skyhawks head to the Pueblo Country Club for the Southern Colorado Masters in the final non-conference tournament of the season.

Hosted by No. 20-ranked CSU Pueblo, the event will feature programs such as Colorado (NCAA DI), No. 6-ranked Colorado Christian, Westminster, and South Dakota Mines alongside Colorado Mesa and two teams from Colorado School of Mines who are each receiving votes on the Golf Coaches Association of America Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll.
 
Opened in 1903, Pueblo Country Club is an 18-hole championship course that plays to a par of 71. Designed by Henry Hughes, the course's rolling hills and bunkers feature plenty of challenges with a mix of Rye, Poa, and Bent grass in the fairways, tee boxes, and greens.
 
Last weekend, Ronald Kildall III took second place as an individual at the Ruidoso Junior Golf Association Palm Valley Classic after carding a career-best 204 (-12) on the back of single-round scores of 66 (-6), 67 (-5), and 71 (-1). As a unit, Fort Lewis took eighth out of 19 teams with a combined score of 856 (-8).
 
Championships Ahead
The event will be the final tune-up before the Skyhawks prepare for the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Apr. 21-23 over at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
