Bend but Never Break
Fort Lewis has trailed in each of its last three contests but has battled back to force a draw on each occasion. The Skyhawks opened last week with a 1-1 draw with Simon Fraser (1-3-2) before making a miraculous two-goal comeback in the final 90 seconds to tie Montana State Billings (1-2-3), 2-2. Just two nights ago, the No. 18-ranked Skyhawks battled No. 9-ranked CSU Pueblo (5-1-1) to The ThunderWolves first draw of the season, 2-2.

Lucky Number 13
The Skyhawks, plagued by early injuries, have been forced to spread the ball up and down the lineup. In turn, veterans have held strong, and freshmen have stepped up leading to 13 individual Skyhawks to supply a point this season. As a squad, Fort Lewis is firing off 14.7 shots per game with a 40.8 percent shots-on-goal percentage for 1.86 goals per game. Defensively, opponents are taking 12.0 shots per game, firing at 36.9 percent in shots-on-goal percentage, and averaging 0.86 goals per game.

Skyhawks Leaders
David Citron headlines the Skyhawks offense with a pair of goals and four total assists on the season for eight total points. Tomas Duenes trailed Citron with a pair of goals and assisted himself for six points, while Gabriel Legendre sits closely behind with two goals and one assist. Freshman Fabrizio Aguilera owns a pair of goals as well, with nine additional Skyhawks registering either a goal or an assist on the season.

Seen It Live
Both Fort Lewis and Colorado Mesa have an edge this Sunday, as both opponents have had the pleasure to watch one another live on three separate occasions. The Mavericks have spent back-to-back weeks in Durango taking on St. Mary's (4-1-2), Simon Fraser, and MSU Billings, identical to the Skyhawks. CMU has also been as hot as anyone as the Mavericks have outscored opponents 9-1 on Dirks Field.

Going For Three
Fort Lewis leads Colorado Mesa 16-8-5 in the all-time series, including a two-match winning streak, and four wins over the last five matches. Last season, the Skyhawks managed to shut out the Mavericks 3-0 on their home pitch to capture the 2023 RMAC Regular Season Title. Despite playing four of the past five matches in Grand Junction, CMU has only come away the victors on one occasion back on Oct. 8, 2021, by way of a 2-1 decision.

Mavericks Leaders
In goal for the Mavericks stands redshirt junior, and reigning RMAC Goalkeeper of the Year, Diego Chavez. Chavez has started and protected the net in all six matches this season and owns 1.00 goals against average and an 82.4 percent save percentage with 28 saves against 104 shots faced. Offensively, CMU is led by the duo of Matteo Bonelli and Kensho Negi who have each tallied two goals. While nine different Mavs have found the back of the net, it's Marc Bonafe who leads the team with one goal and four assists for six total points.

Conference Race
The sprint through the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference begins next Friday, Oct. 4, as the nationally ranked Skyhawks head out on the road to Lakewood, Colo., to take on Colorado Christian (2-1-4) in a noon match over at Trailblazer Stadium.
