Hartwell picks up individual title, men's and women's cross country each place 10th at Lewis Crossover

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. --  Senior Hannah Hartwell fought to the finish at the Lewis Crossover Invitational, earning the individual title in the women's 6k by two one-hundredths of a second. Hartwell's efforts guided the No. 11 Fort Lewis College women's team to a 10th place finish which was matched by the No. 17 Skyhawks men's squad.

Women's Results (10th Place, 371 points)
The No. 10 Fort Lewis women's team placed 10th in the field of 36 teams, placing ahead of No. 29 Palm Beach Atlantic and No. 30 Colorado Christian. No. 15 Chico State earned the team title, followed by No. 9 Lewis, Biola, No. 28 Colorado Mesa, and No. 14 Pitt State to round out the top five.

Hartwell's first-place finish secured her spot as one of the favorites for the national title in November. Her time of 20:45.07 was .02 seconds ahead of Walsh's Claire Rethman who made things interesting in the final stretch. Senior Alliyah Molina followed with a season-best time of 22:09.17 to place 29th. Freshman Carysa Marquez was the third to cross the line for Fort Lewis with a 51st place time of 22:29.73. Senior Althea Griffith (139th, 23:27.19) and senior Marisol Castilleja (178th, 23:51.83) rounded out the scoring five.

Men's Results (10th Place, 324 points)
The No. 17 Skyhawks men's squad placed 10th in the field of 37 teams, placing ahead of No. 23 Walsh University and No. 19 Michigan Tech. No. 6 Colorado Christian earned the team title, followed by No. 10 Saginaw Valley, No. 14 Western Washington, No. 8 Chico State, and No. 13 Pitt State to round out the top five.

The team was led by freshman Evan Morozowich who placed 46th with a personal best time of 24:48.74 in the 8k. Freshman Brody Hubbard followed with a PR of his own, placing 63rd with a time of 24:59.56 and was closely followed by sophomore Cesar Diaz's 64th place time of 24:59.64. The scoring five was rounded out by freshman Cody Sullivan (70th, 25:07.12) and freshman Cooper Filmore (83rd, 25:13.97).
