Andreottola named United Soccer Coaches Player of the Month

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College men's soccer's freshman phenom Alessio Andreottola has been named the United Soccer Coaches Player of the Month for NCAA Division II, the organization announced on Friday afternoon.

Andreottola has headlined the No. 15-ranked Skyhawks (4-1-2) offense through seven matches, scoring four goals while supplying seven assists for 15 points on the season. Back on Sept. 20, Andreottola dished out four assists against Northwest Nazarene (3-2-2), who were receiving votes in the latest USC national poll at the time, the most by a player in Division II and tied for the most across all three NCAA divisions (DI, DII, DIII).

Standing at five-foot-nine and a native of Colmar, France, Andreottola has stumped countless defenders with his quick touches and shifty ball-handling to hand out the most assists across all of NCAA DI and DII, and the eighth-most across all three divisions of the NCAA.

His offense doesn't stop there, however, as he fires off 4.14 shots per game and 1.71 shots on goal per game, which rank first in the South-Central region and fifth in DII, and third in the South-Central region and 24th in DII, respectively. Lastly, Andreottola leads the RMAC, ranks second in the South-Central region, and sits tied for the 16th-most points across all of DII.

The Skyhawks are set to open RMAC play at home tonight, Oct. 3, against Colorado Christian University (0-7-1) at 7 pm on Dirks Field before hosting Metropolitan State University of Denver (2-2-4) on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 2:30 p.m.
