9/30/2025 3:43:00 PM

DURANGO, Colo. – After a 1-1 weekend to close out its non-conference schedule, the Fort Lewis men's soccer team (4-1-2) finds itself dropping to No. 15 on the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Coaches Poll heading into the opening weekend of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

The top-ranked Skyhawks have appeared on every USC national poll since October 24, 2023, and have earned 12 top-15 rankings since, including five-straight dating back to the final poll of the 2024 campaign.

Last weekend, Fort Lewis went into hostile territories, defeating pre-season RMAC favorite UCCS (2-3-3) 2-1 on the Mountain Lions' home pitch last Friday, surrendering the lone score by way of a late penalty kick, before suffering its first setback of the season 2-1 at then No. 8-ranked CSU Pueblo (4-0-4) on Sunday.

The Skyhawks head into conference play boasting the second-highest offense in the league and the sixth-highest across all of NCAA Division II, averaging 2.71 goals per game. In addition, Fort Lewis ranks third in shots per game (18.86), 11th in total points (54), 14th in assists per game (2.29), 14th in corner kicks per game (6.43), and 17th in shots on goal per game (7.0) across all of DII.

CSU Pueblo moved into first place on the South-Central regional poll, with the Skyhawks sliding into second. The ThunderWolves also moved up to No. 7 on the national poll, while Midwestern State University (4-1-3) jumped up to T-No. 18 as the only other school in the region on the poll. St. Mary's University (1-1-5) continued to receive votes.

Fort Lewis looks to get back on track this week with the Skyhawks hosting Colorado Christian (0-7-1) for its RMAC opener and annual Pink Match, presented by CommonSpirit and Alpine Bank, on Friday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m., before welcoming MSU Denver (2-2-4) for a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, Oct. 5.
