Fort Lewis drops Sunday matinee to Regis, 3-1

Andreottola earns DII-leading 13th assist

DURANGO, Colo. – No. 13 nationally ranked Fort Lewis men's soccer fell 3-1 Sunday afternoon on the road to Regis University up at the Regis Match Pitch in Denver, Colo.

The Rangers (7-5-4, 5-2-2 RMAC) peppered the Skyhawks' (8-4-4, 4-3-2 RMAC) defense with 14 shots and six corner kicks, and used an efficient eight shots on goal for three scores to pick up its first win over a top 25 opponent this season. Fort Lewis had its share of chances, firing off 11 shots for six shots on goal alongside a game-high eight corner kicks.

With the Rangers' win, and a coinciding 2-0 victory for Westminster University (9-5-2, 5-2-2 RMAC) over Colorado Christian University (2-12-3, 2-5-2 RMAC) this afternoon, Fort Lewis is now the first team on the outside looking in for the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament. With one final match remaining next Wednesday, FLC still has a path into the tournament, barring other results around the league.

Both sides battled to a scoreless result heading into the locker room, and it was Fort Lewis who struck first just two minutes into the second half of play. After dispossessing the Rangers in their own defensive third, Lorenz Guintini sent service ahead to a streaking Alessio Andreottola towards the penalty box, and with four Rangers chasing Andreottola, Francisco Pinto was left unmarked for an easy punch-in goal inside the crease, his fifth score of the campaign.

Regis went on to score back-to-back goals just 10 minutes apart, first tying the match up in the 56th minute on a shot from Thomas Davonport just inside the top-right corner of the box that glanced off the crossbar into the back of the net. The Rangers then took control of the match when Elias Taubo took a shot that drilled the right post but allowed Jason Robles to collect the loose ball and rifle his fifth goal of the season to the back-right corner from 12 yards out.

Abram Wilson went on to sprint clear across the pitch and score his first goal of the season on an empty net as the Skyhawks' goalkeeper joined the fray for a trio of corner kicks in the final moments.
