DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College Department of Athletics has announced the elevation of JoJo Lutz to women's lacrosse head coach following a stint as assistant coach and a strong playing career for the Skyhawks.

"As a proud Fort Lewis College alumna, I am honored to lead the women's lacrosse program," said Lutz. "My passion lies in developing student-athletes, and Fort Lewis shaped my journey. I am excited to give back to the community that means so much to me."

As a graduate assistant for the program (2023-25), she coordinated practices and travel for the team, facilitated individual player development, organized themed games in collaboration with campus staff, and secured sponsorships. In addition to her coaching role, she worked within the athletic administration team. In her administrative role, she managed NCAA statistics, oversaw event staff, and handled photography and videography.

Lutz had a standout lacrosse career at Fort Lewis, demonstrating leadership, consistency, and defensive excellence. Over five seasons (2020–2024), she played in 53 games, starting in nearly all of them, and accumulated 94 ground balls (8th in program history) and 52 caused turnovers (6th in program history). She was a two-time All-RMAC Honorable Mention (2021, 2024) and served as SAAC President for two years, after previously being Vice President.

Lutz was known for her defensive reliability, ranking 7th in the RMAC for caused turnovers per game in 2024 and routinely delivering standout performances. Her leadership on and off the field was recognized with the Skyler's Spirit Award in 2023, highlighting her impact beyond statistics.

"I am thrilled that FLC women's lacrosse alumna and current assistant, Coach Lutz, has agreed to lead the program moving forward," said Director of Athletics, Travis Whipple. "Coach Lutz has been an integral part of our department, serving in multiple capacities, while always putting the student-athlete experience at the center for all team members. She brings incredible passion, energy, and a commitment to see the program succeed in the classroom, community, and competition. The future is bright for FLC women's lacrosse."

Lutz earned her undergraduate degree in Public Health with minors in Coaching and Sociology in 2023. Last week, she completed her Master of Arts in Education from Fort Lewis College.
