Men’s soccer reloads with 14 signees for 2025

DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College Head Men's Soccer Coach David Oberholtzer is excited to announce the signings of 14 student-athletes to the Skyhawks soccer program for the fall 2025 season.
 
This season's classes feature seven international student-athletes, including three from France, two from Portugal, and one each from Nigeria and Costa Rica. Stateside, the Skyhawks have picked up seven talents, with two each coming from Oregon, New Mexico, and Arizona, and a single from Washington. In addition, Fort Lewis has added three defenders, seven midfielders, three forwards, and a goalkeeper.
 
"There are so many things to be excited about as an FLC Soccer supporter right now," Oberholtzer shared. "The team is arriving this weekend as we prepare for our preseason tour to Costa Rica. What an amazing opportunity for our team to jump-start our season! We are so grateful to be in a position to provide our team with such a wonderful experience, and we're looking forward to establishing new relationships with our incoming players and re-establishing connections with our returners. We're incredibly excited about the recruiting class that our staff has built, and we're extremely confident that we've added the right people to help us continue to solidify this program as one of the best in the country."

Fort Lewis will kick off the 2025 season at home on Dirks Field on Thursday, Sept. 4, with a non-conference match against Lubbock Christian University at 4:30 p.m. The Skyhawks will then take a trip to the Lone Star State to challenge St. Edward's University and St. Mary's University on Sept. 11 and 13, respectively, before coming home to close out its non-conference home slate against Simon Fraser University on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. and Northwest Nazarene University on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 7 p.m. Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play will begin at home with Colorado Christian coming to town on Friday, Oct. 3, for a 7 p.m. match followed by MSU Denver on Sunday, Oct. 5, for a 2:30 p.m. start. 

Below is a list of the latest Skyhawks to join the men's soccer program for the 2025 campaign. Student-athletes are listed in no particular order.  
 
Quadri Edun | 5-10 | 163 lbs | Defender | Lagos, Nigeria | Bakre Oshodi Memorial
Edun earned a spot on the Nigerian National Team and played in the 2019 U17 World Cup.
 
Mathias Valverde | 5-7 | 154 lbs | Midfielder | La Unión, Costa Rica | Angelo American School
Valverde played soccer all four years at Angelo American School... voted Team Captain... earned the three-year awards for Sport Trajectory and Academic Honor Roll... won the 2022 Friendship Tournament Championship.
 
Raul Baptista Filipe | 5-10 | 160 lbs | Midfielder | Santa Maria de Feira, Portugal | Colégio Internato dos Carvalhos | Wingate University
Baptista Filipe played his freshman season at Wingate University (NCAA DII), a member of the South Atlantic Conference, in Wingate, N.C.... made 11 starts across his 15 matches played to help the Bulldogs to a 6-8-1 overall record, 4-7 record in SAC play, and a first-round appearance in the SAC Tournament... scored his first collegiate goal against Emory & Henry University (Nov. 2)... registered 915 minutes (61 min/game)... took 12 total shots (.083 shot percentage) and placed six shots on-goal (.500 shots-on-goal percentage)... drew three cautions... captained a U19 National Championship team.
 
Alessio Andreottola | 5-9 | 154 lbs | Forward | Colmar, France | BTS CNED
Andreottola was a stand-out at BTS CNED in Colmar, France... member of the 2025 French U17 National Team... also played club for a variety of programs such as Sarre Union... named the Most Valuable Player at the Tournament of Montaigu as well as the Tournament of Quevilly... named team captain... boasts a career-best of three goals and two assists in a single match.
 
Francisco Pinto | 5-8 | 136 lbs | Midfielder | Felgueiras, Portugal | Escola Básica e Secundária de Idães
Pinto played for Escola Básica e Secundária de Idães and Futebol Clube Paços de Ferreira.
 
Landon Gray | 6-0 | 160 lbs | Defender | Albuquerque, N.M. | Eldorado High School | Eastern New Mexico University
Gray played two seasons for the Greyhounds at fellow south-central region and Lone Star Conference institution Eastern New Mexico University... utilized a redshirt season as a freshman in 2023 to retain a year of eligibility... member of an ENMU squad that posted back-to-back 4-7-6 seasons including 2-3-4 and 2-5-3 marks in conference play in 2023 and 2024, respectively... made one start across his three matches played in 2024... registered 73 total minutes on the pitch including a career-high 45 minutes in his lone start against Adams State (Sept. 5)... named to the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll in the fall of 2023 and spring of 2024... played for head coach Tim Hirschmand at Eldorado High School... tallied three varsity letters... named Second-Team All-State and First-Team All-District in 2022-23... earned Second-Team All-District in 2021-22... was a two-time Academic All-District honoree in 2021-22 and 2022-23... scored 25 goals and dished out 12 assists in 21 matches.
 
Yohann Fila | 6-0 | 172 lbs | Forward | Nantes, France
Fila was a four-year standout in secondary school... earned All-Conference, All-State, and All-Academic honors... voted Team Captain... named Team Captain... scored 45 career goals and registered 25 career assists... posted a personal-best four goals in a single match.
 
Kevin Pasinski | 6-0 | 162 lbs | Midfielder | Anthem, Ariz. | Sandra Say O'Connor High School
Pasinski earned three varsity letters as a member of the Eagles boys soccer team at Sandra Say O'Connor High School... tallied 13 goals and 15 assists from the midfield position... voted the Eagles' Most Valuable Player and Team Captain... member of the Honor Roll, Principal's List, and the Golden Key National Honor Society... earned his Advanced (AP/DE) Graduation Certificate... also played for head coach Jordan Rideout with RSL Arizona.
 
Uriel Garcia | 6-6 | 209 lbs | Defender | Farmington, N.M. | Piedra Vista High School Garcia was a four-year letterwinner at Piedra Vista High School just over the New Mexico border and down the road from Durango... tabbed with All-State and All-District honors on the pitch... twice voted Team Captain.
 
Jahan Sabzalian | 5-9 | 155 lbs | Midfielder | Eugene, Ore. | South Eugene High School
Sabzalian was a three-year letterwinner at South Eugene High School... amassed a 36-9-7 career record with The Axe's... led SEHS in scoring as a senior... named the Southwest Conference Player of the Year and was a First-Team All-State selection... boasted a 4.26 weighted Grade Point Average... also scored two goals in the finale as Oregon Premier FC captured the State Cup.
 
Tomás de Andraca | 5-7 | 140 lbs | Midfielder | Eugene, Ore. | South Eugene High School
de Andraca was a three-year standout at South Eugene High School, winning three varsity letters... named the Most Valuable Player and Best Offensive Player in 2023... scored 14 goals and supplied five assists in his 15 matches as a senior... earned a First-Team All-Conference nod and captured Second-Team All-State honors... awarded the Register-Guard Player of the Week (Oct. 6, 2023)... voted Team Captain... also played for Lane United FC and was selected to the Oregon Olympic Development Program... named to the 2023-24 League Far West Conference All-Region Team.
 
Frank Castro | 5-10 | 165 lbs | Midfielder | Prescott, Ariz. | Prescott High School | Pima Community College
Castro spent the past two seasons with the Aztecs at Pima Community College (NJCAA DII)... helped the Aztecs to a 33-4-2 overall record and 24-3 record in conference play over two seasons with back-to-back appearances in the NJCAA DII Men's Soccer Championships, including a national semifinal appearance in 2024 and a national quarterfinal appearance in 2023... the Aztecs captured the ACCAC Conference Championship and NJCAA Region 1 Championship... earned Second-Team All-ACCAC honors... made 34 starts across his 36 games played at Pima... scored one goal, which stood as a game-winner, and supplied one assist for three career points... took 15 shots (.067 shot percentage) and placed four shots on-goal (.267 shots-on-goal-percentage)... received five yellow cards... scored his first collegiate goal against the College of Southern Nevada (Sept. 26, 2024) and gave out his first assist against GateWay Community College (Ariz.) (Sept. 19, 2023)... was a three-year letterwinner at Prescott High School... carried a 30-9-1 overall record with the Badgers... three-time Grand Canyon Region First-Team selection, two-time 4A First-Team All-Conference honoree, and a 4A Second-Team All-Conference selection... also played for the Phoenix Rising.
 
Lorenz Guintini | 5-7 | 152 lbs | Forward | Avignon, France | Lycée Alexis Monteil
Guintini played soccer at Lycée Alexis Monteil.
 
Kellen Pierce | 6-6 | 195 lbs | Goalkeeper | Seattle, Wash. | O'Dea High School
Pierce was a standout keeper at O'Dea High School... tallied 82 saves across the 2023-24 season.
