Women’s golf hosts Nick Turner Invitational to wrap up fall schedule

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis women's golf team returns to action this week, and for the final time in 2026, with a home-course advantage as the Skyhawks host the fifth iteration of the Nick Turner Invitational at Hillcrest Golf Club up on the rim this Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 5-6.

Start Times
The tournament will begin with tee times on Monday afternoon from 12:00-1:48 p.m. Tuesday's action will get underway with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
 
Nick Turner Invitational
Fort Lewis will host the fifth edition of the Nick Turner Invitational since its inception in 2021. The tournament was not held in 2025. In 2024, junior Dimery Plewe won the event for the Skyhawks, turning in scores of 74 (+2) and 71 (-1) for a 145 (+1) total. Fort Lewis took third as a team with a 56-over-par 632 total.
 
Hillcrest Golf Club
Located just feet from the campus of Fort Lewis College, Hillcrest Golf Club overlooks the town of Durango up on the scenic mesa and was established in 1954. The course typically plays to a par of 71 and stretches out to 6,784 yards from the black tees, with a rating of 71.2 and a slope of 132.
 
Last Time Out
The Skyhawks are coming off a fifth-place finish at the Westminster Wasatch Invitational (Sept. 20-21) at Glenmoor Golf Club in South Jordan, Utah. Fort Lewis beat out nine programs with a team score of 611 (+35) on the par-72, 6,067-yard course. Freshman Paola Guerrero paced the team, earning a T-8 finish as an individual, her second top-25 placing in as many appearances, on scores of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) for a 147 (+3) overall.
 
Tournament Field
All eight Skyhawks will compete for Fort Lewis in the home tournament against programs such as Adams State University, Colorado Mesa University, New Mexico Junior College, Colorado Christian University, and Westminster University.

Fort Lewis will look ahead to its spring 2027 schedule and the 2027 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships from Apr. 18-20 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
