Skyhawks women cap fall schedule with a third-place finish at Nick Turner Invitational

DURANGO, Colo. – The Fort Lewis College women's golf team closed out the fall 2026 portion of its schedule on Tuesday afternoon as the Skyhawks captured third place with a team score of 619 (+43) at the program's fifth edition of the Nick Turner Invitational, up on the rim at Hillcrest Golf Club.
 
The tournament marked the second time Fort Lewis has hosted the event at Hillcrest, which was played to a par 72 at 6,066 yards, with the traditional par-four hole four stretched to a par five for the tournament.
 
New Mexico Junior College won team medalist honors after trying the tournament's 36-hole record with a 588 (+12) and a single-round record in round two with a 286 (-2). The Thunderbirds' own Tova Sandren won individual medalist honors, tying former Skyhawk Dimery Plewe's Hillcrest Golf Course tournament record with a 145 (+1) overall.
 
Fort Lewis bested three Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference programs, using its single-round scores of 310 (+22) and 309 (+21) to edge fourth-place Colorado Mesa University's 625 (+49), fifth-place Colorado Christian University's 643 (+67), and Adams State University's 844 (+268). Westminster University secured second place with a 609 (+33).
 
Isabel Bustillos led all Skyhawks, taking 10th after the senior shot a second-round 78 to finish at 153 (+9) overall with four birdies for the tournament. Sophomore Peyton Gibby finished a stroke back in 11th on a 154 (+10) with a second-round 77 (+5), and freshman Paola Guerrero finished another stroke back in 12th on a 155 (+11) thanks to a second-round 155.
 
Sophomore Ellie White captured a T-16 finish, dropping one stroke with a second-round 79 (+7) to score a 157 (+13) overall. Senior Annika Gutierrez rounded out the Skyhawks' scoring team in 30th on a 174 (+30) and a second-round 88 (+16).
 
Freshman Abigail Gryzynger paced the trio of Fort Lewis individuals, grabbing her first top-25 finish in T-19, turning in a second-round 79 (+7) for a 160 (+16) overall. Kathryn Moores finished 22nd on164 (+20) with a second-round 83 (+11), and Eleanor Pilgrim finished 29th with a 170 (+26) total and a second-round 81 (+9).
 
Fort Lewis will now prepare for its spring 2026 championship season and the 2027 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev., from Apr. 18-20
